  1. Go the 6000k buddy. I just got my HID's installed with 6000k low beams, 8000k highs (just for kicks lol). Got them all installed for $200 with free 5SMD T10 LED parkers and license plate bulbs installed too. Don't fall for the really cheap kits on eBay - couple of my mates had these installed and they died on them within a couple months!

If you just want the kit to install yourself, the guy sells them for $70 and you can pick them up yourself from Nunawading, which was a bit of a drive for me to go there to get them installed but was well worth the drive because when I was watching him install, looked a bit difficult to me seeing as I've never done anything mechanical before. The most time consuming part was looking for a place to mount the ballasts, because the engine bay itself is quite small and was already taken up buy most of the components of the car already.

If you want to have a look, here are some photos of my car with the HID's installed (these pics were taken by the dude after he installed them - DSLR + Lightroom FTW!):

and here's a pic I took with my iPhone - close up of the headlights at night: http://hphotos-snc6....9_6072119_o.jpg

Btw, as Master.Coung mentioned, if you want the easiest install, you should remove the front bumper. The guy didn't remove mine when he installed my HID's but he did need to remove some of the parts in the engine bay in order to reach the bulbs in the headlight (air duct, washer fluid tube). Majority of my ballasts are hidden away (there's 4 in total for me). But one is sitting in between two parts on a wiring harness, mounted with a couple of cable ties but they are all sitting very securely and don't rattle/move at all.

P.S. 'grats on the first car ;) Great choice. My 2011 'rolla was my FIRST car (I had a 2003 Rav4 before it, but that was given to me by my 'rents. I actually bought this one, hence why I consider it my real first car :) )

  2. Where did you find this picture?

I'd like to find out more about this auris!! just love it :)

  3. thanks for the suggestions guys! I got my HID's installed today - 6000k low beams, 8000k high beams, LED parkers and LED license plate bulbs :)

    added some photos

  4. got a crazy quote for foglights for my rolla from Toyota Castle Hill - $750?!?! and that's just the parts.. damn i hope Mars Performacnce stock some aftermarket ones soon. But for now I've decided to get some Toyota Owners Club Australia HID's (6000k) installed on Wednesday morning ($200 for lows, highs, and parkers).

    Thats quite expensive for hid's.

I got mine for like 75.

that included 8k low beams and parkers.

Installation isn't that difficult. If you need ill just post some pics up on how you do it.

yeah mine are $75 for the low beams and parkers, so I assume another $75 for the high beams and $52 for overall installation costs. I'm just lazy so I can't be bothered installing them myself.. and rather leave it to someone who knows what they're doing.

Also decided to jump to 8000k rather than 6000k.

Edit: actually... still trying to decide whether to go 6000 or 8000

  6. @ Huey: I run king wheels KG-5 17x7 which are now powdercoated orange. They've lasted me almost 3years now, and i even track on them. I thought about getting those rims you've mentioned too, but i've decided next set will be Jap spec rims.. JDM or nothing.

Where can i get sponsorship? I'd like a sponsored TRD turbo kit from the GT Auris :P

Hey mate, have you got any photos of your ride on the KG-5's? Also, how much did they set you back?

  7. Same here, just ordered 2 sets one for me and my wife's car :D

I'm hoping it fits a Sportivo Facelift 2005 model...does anyone have it on theirs pictures would be great thanks.

I'm also looking for a set of window visors/weather shields for my 05 Corolla Sportivo. Black ones. Any help?

the seller I bought my ones (for my '11 rolla) has some.http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Weathershield-window-visors-Toyota-Corolla-5dr-01-05-/270749344211?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f09eb21d3

  8. he's in maidstone so not too far.

Ah, not too far but I'd have to figure out what to do for the 2 hours lol. Well, I dropped my car in this morning to Tint-a-Car @ North Melbourne and they finished it within 2 hours (was estimated no more than 1.5 hours but due to the rain and cold weather, they needed to hold it for a bit longer and dry it out with the heating in the car).

I opted for Octane which is RRP (from) $395 but discounted down to $295. Bargain. The tints are 35% for front (darkest legal tint) and 30% for the back and rear passengers (just pushing it over the legal mark). Looks nice and stealthy on a black 'Rolla. Now all I need are my wheels, lowered, CAI and new exhaust system :)

Do note the poor lighting in the pictures (taken in an apartment complex parking lot) and I did just finish driving in the rain lol. Will take a photo of the rear when I get the chance, but trust me, it's pretty darn dark.

  9. I used a backyard tinter when i got my car done. He works at tint a car during the day and does backyard jobs on the weekend. $170 for the corolla. I got it in 28% which is just a tad darker than legal, but its not noticeable.

He was done in around 2 hours and gives you life long warranty. The backyarder also gets recommended by car dealers. When he was doing my car, this guy guy had his new 2010 Aurion ready for tinting, the toyota dealer told him to go to the backyarder. :D

Only problem is that you must be free when he is.

If you want his number pm me.

Where abouts is this guy located? If it's too far out of the CBD then unlikely I'd be able to utilize him. Tint-A-Car quote is decent, heard pretty good reviews on their Octane tint so gonna go ahead with it tomorrow and post photos if anyone's interested.

  10. I used Tint professor in Nunawading (HQ) for my previous Mazda 2, I think I paid $265 in 2007 and now the price has gone up to $295.

You can't go wrong with Tint Professor.

Also looking for a window tinting service for my Corolla (darkest legal tint). Can anyone suggest any places in Melbourne?

Tint Professor Full car window tint darkest legal 35% $260 last time i did mine. Lifetime warranty B)

Yeah I think they've gone up to $295 too - it states "from" $295 for hatches lol.

So I decided to go with Tint-a-Car's "Octane" tints - got quoted $295.

Quotes from the Tint Professor were a bit nutto - $295 for Premium One; $350 for Rockstar; $390 for Premium Elite!

  12. So just got my visors installed :) took some photos and decided to share.. they look pretty sweet (even though they're not the genuine parts from Toyota). Do forgive the poor lighting, my car is parked in an apartment car parking lot.

..and yeah, I really hate staring at steely wheels :(

EDIT: my bad - resized photos to be a bit smaller lol.

  13. Heya,

Yep, got defected today for too low. Can someone out there please measure their stock ride height ('09 hatch) from the center of the wheel cap to the top of the guard, both front and rear and list it here please. The RTA listing for minimum ride high seems far too high to me.

    Thanks

Woah! that sucks man. I better be careful when I decide to lower my car.

  14. The place is called http://www.marsperformance.com/ and they are located at Moorabbin. It's gonna be around 150.

That place is pretty good, but majority of there stock is for luxury cars.

Ah I know that place - I actually contacted them but they said they had no stock at all for facelift hatchbacks; but they didn't even tell me whether they were gonna get any at all.

lol, yeah i've purchased from them before so they kinda know me. Hopefully he gets them in earlier than 3 months lol. I wanna get rid of those plastic covers already

Let me know when you get any word on the foggies :) Dying to get some in mine too but can't justify paying ~450 each side for genuine Toyota foggies (without installation)!!! Crazy!

  15. I've found a place in melbourne that sell foglights for the facelift corollas.

I contacted them last week, but currently they won't have them in stock. They said that it will be a 3 months wait and they will contact me as soon as they have any.

I'll update you guys when i get an update :D

Awesome news mate! did you get any details on pricing? What's the place called and where are they located, just so I can also nag them for updates on stock ;)
