HWP considered it a "sharp protrution"... fkn bs... how's it any different from a car/truck/suv/van with a towbar? anyways... defects are cleared, stupid vicroads rep didnt even check the exhaust at all. just walked around my car checked my front tints and bam gave me the papers... she had already signed them off before I even got the car into the inspection bay... sigh.. all that effort for a 30 second look over the car.. all cleared.. so much effort to quietten down my exhaust and she didn't even check it.. only walked around my car looking at front tints and asked me what the "rear sharp protrusion" thing was and I showed her the towhook I removed.. she actually had already filled the form out before I even rolled the car up to the inspection bay... ugh. least I didn't need to change out my CAI to the stock airbox.

I don't need EPA test. Just to quiet down the exhaust (which I've already done today with an additional muffler). 250$ down the drain.

RE: VicRoads defect clearance - do they only check what's on the defect notice or do they check the whole car?

fark sounds like a painful job. guy who did my tints said i should be ok if i go to a vicroads that doesnt have the pits to fully check my car out and if i provide the paperwork from the muffler place in addition to the paper work from the tinters, then they will generally not even bother checking the car.

they wont check your whole car. unless, you got defecte and need a rwc? thats what a rwc place is for. vicroads just checks whatever you get defected for is ok now. if in doubt, go when its busy like in the morning. But everytime ive gone to clear my defect theyve never popped my hood (I got a SRI). Even had lengthy chats with vicroads and they didnt even budge. Just checked if car was legal height and wheels were stock and done. I wouldnt stress huey

so an update on the defects... rear towhook removed (easy fix)... and today i took her in to get a resonator/muffler whacked on.. they had difficulties finding a place to put it so they whacked it right in front of my rear muffler. it's pretty effin huge but didn't drown out the sound too much.. pretty much silent on idle, deep sounding still in 1-2.5k rpm range, and 2.5k+ rpm range still roars but definitely not as loud as it was before (even though I wouldn't have considered it loud in the first place)... now I got to get the tints sorted out.

hrmmm fibreglass eh? looks like some aftermarket manufacturers are finally getting on board. may be a cheaper alternative to the OEM sideskirts made of PPE plastic. Not sure about the quality of them though.

Yep. Edfc is an electronic damping force controller. Le.vinh.zr has this installed too IIRC. http://www.tein.com/products/edfc.html

reminds me of mine when I had my rear crack..... EDIT: actually - had a second look and his is way worse. on a side note.. spotted vinh's zre on the Monash FWY whilst on my way back to town.. was driving in the opposite direction to me - thought it was dwee's at first because it'd make more sense for him to be driving back that way, but then I had a look at them black rims and ride height and remembered dwee's back to stock, and only know one person with them black SSR's..

thats pretty ****.... i got pulled over ther othernight in my sportivo and that loud as..2.5inch the whole way with extractors and he didnt defect me... you must have had a pri#k of a cop and whats with the unauthorized mod fine..... i got done in nsw for cai and too low and exhaust and i only had a $80 defect fine...? is there that much difference between the states in defect laws..?

Well, I went and got another muffler/resonator added to my exhaust setup to try quieten her down a bit, which it did.. the deep sound of the exhaust is still there (thank god).. but she's much more quieter on idle and from 1k-2.5k rpm. Now I got to get the tints sorted out and head over to VicRoads.. such a pain in my ahole.
