  1. Wow. Just... wow! Got a spare 1 sitting around? ; ) That's awesome.
  2. Thanks for the info. Moving the battery is an option, but I'd like to keep as simple as possible so I can do it myself. Which SRI did you go with?
  3. Selective reading? These guys both have one and seem happy with their choice: ??? That was a reply to someone who said the same thing as you, that a CAI right down the front at the bottom was the only way to go. End of discussion? That's fine if that's your opinion, I'd like to hear from people who have an SRI, not start an argument on which one's better. By the look of your car I would assume you don't have much experience with either a CAI or a SRI in a Corolla anyway, so I'm not sure how much input you can offer besides trying to start an argument. I'm not sure what your point is. Seems like you're preaching to the converted. Or you just like the sound of your own, um, keyboard.
  4. It takes a bit of getting used to driving a different car. I wonder if there's a way to check if cars have had the ECU and gearbox checked by Toyota re: the recall.
  5. Hey there new guy. What country are you in?
  6. I can't remember anyone saying otherwise? Do tell.
  7. You may need to go and re-read that, this guy said: I was pointing out that other people have the SRI's and have had good experience with them. You seem like you're itching for an argument, unfortunately you won't win because you'll have to argue with yourself. The problem is you are misunderstanding the printed word. This I know. You can have an argument with the people who think SRI's just suck hot air. The reason the stock air filter doesn't just suck hot air is the same reason an SRI doesn't. The funny thing is you're agreeing with me, but you don't even realise it.
  8. Indeed sir. I'm thinking of measuring up a template for a heatshroud that has some rubber foam on the top edges to 'seal' with the bonnet. Unless anyone else has done it and would be nice enough to share their template?
  9. Thanks, got the lecture yesterday. As I said to clarify, it's not illegal in QLD to accelerate up to the speed limit without losing traction with the tyres and the road. I was well under the speed limit (2nd gear in an 80km/h zone). It was a test in the new (secondhand) car I bought less than 2 weeks ago, just to illustrate that I'm happy with the little standard 4 cylinder Corolla. And clearly it's not a hotted up 450kw V8 Commodore. If there was a police car behind me, they wouldn't have blinked twice. In fact they probably would have overtaken me. Let he who has never accelerated briskly from a set of lights in a new car with a little smile on their face be the first to cast a stone.
  10. Chemical Brothers - Come With Us On my fancy, newly installed 6.2" TV/DVD headunit
  11. Hmm, could be the starter motor.
  12. Touch screen doesn't work, uhoh... Nevermind, a quick press of the 'reset' button and it's all good.
  13. I got one from Supercheap Auto: Aerpro 'To suit Toyota; Smaller 2-plug type (Model # APP0141) $14.95 Perfect fit to the one that comes with the Eonon.
  14. I tried that but it didn't seem to have worked. Where did you get the double din rabbit ears?
  15. Thanks mate, all good. Jam the 2 top screws on as hard as they go. If you adjust the 2 top screws it will adjust the straightness of the top bracket too. Should've checked it with a DVD before I put it all back together but it powered up, radio worked. Got the 'stop to play' warning message for a DVD - argh! I stuck the pink and black wires together. Ah well, I know how it's done now. Thought the power button was stuck in too, it was the infrared port for the remote I guess. Power on/off is via holding down the 'Source' button. VERY snug fit
  16. Looks awesome, good job. Where did you get the wireless camera and how much was it?
  17. Based on specifications alone, both cars would hold a close race. If anything, the XR5 would be faster based on figures alone. The Sportivo comes out with a power-to-weight ratio of 117.6kW/tonne (166kW/1442kg) whereas the XR5 is 115.1kW/tonne (141kW/1224kg) however the XR5 has an extra 140Nm of torque from a much lower RPM which can help push it along with a bit more force. That said, you would probably be looking at a difference of only up to around a second though, which when comparing car distances, is not a large gap. They're pretty much the numbers I came up with power to weight wise, the XR5 is a good 200kgs heavier. I have it on good authority they're actually pretty close, probably would come down to the driver.
  18. Sheesh on a leash, has anyone actually installed a double din stereo using the standard brackets? The bracket doesn't seem to be sitting right on the Eonon. There are little dimple things that press into the side and make the bracket just off on the top.
  19. Easy tiger :( ...take a deep breath relax and we can all get along,i read your post and it does sound like you were street racing to a degree (this is a big NO and double NO to mention it on public forums) and the buy and sell rules are there for a reason and they were not just put in place to pizz you off, they apply to all new members. i suggest if you have any personal dramas with any members you can always PM them and talk it out this way,no need for ugly posts. I don't get it... I mean on forums in general, not just this one.
  20. People on forums with high post counts that think they know everything ; ) And taxis.
  21. So you keep making abundantly apparent ;) What's the problem here Ricey?
  22. What do you think would be faster in a straight line, in uncontrolled conditions, amateur drivers, standard traffic lights, from 0-80km/h: a bog standard Toyota Corolla Sportivo with worn tyres or a Ford Focus XR5 with new 18's and unknown mods?
