  1. Your user details say it's an '94 AE101 CSi (ie pre-facelift, base model), in which case it definitely wouldn't be the top-spec factory security system. Do you have any photos of the alarm unit under the bonnet? Same with the remote (I know my factory central-locking remote doesn't have any screws to remove the back casing, it is a sealed unit that you basically either have to break open or take back to Toyota to get the battery changed)
  2. Are we talking factory alarm system (basic or top spec) here or an aftermarket one? An actual siren or just the horn going off? I know when I take my battery out that the alarm would not go off (there is no battery backup), but I've only got the factory remote central locking and immobiliser (and just the basic security system which sounds the horn) If it's an aftermarket system then often there is a little key to disable the alarm (I know there is on the Mongoose system in the Soarer, for instance), there should be a module somewhere where you can deactivate it (handy if you're working for long periods with the bonnet open or need to take the battery out)
  3. http://youtu.be/VKcAYMb5uk4 The horror....the horror...
  4. It'll be cheaper than 40k, Cuts' is that expensive because he's shelling out for the first-run compliancing/emissions testing etc, Iron Chef reckon they'll be down in the high 20s for non-black high-km ones, into the low 30s for a good black one, and the Modellista maybe hitting 40. But then again, if you're shelling out that kind of money you'd be gunning for a low-k 5A Modellista anyway :P
  5. All those people clamouring for a RWD Aurion, your boat has arrived....even comes in supercharged Modellista form
  6. Topic moved to WTB - in the future please post in the correct area
  7. I've lost count of the number of times people have referred to the intake air-temp sensor (either incorporated into the AFM/MAF or as a standalone sensor) as an "oxygen sensor"
  8. I'm still waiting on work to tell me if I need to be in Sydney next weekend or the weekend after before I can solidly commit.
  9. Define "oxygen sensor" - since you're talking about your intake do you mean the intake air temperature sensor, or the actual oxygen sensor (aka O2 or Lambda sensor) in the exhaust manifold?
  10. Check that your thermofans are turning on. If you're spending a lot of time stopped and idling then there is no airflow over the radiator apart from what the thermofans can pull/push through - this is why cars overheat at slow speeds in traffic and not blasting along the freeway at 110. When you say "coolant loss", are you continually having to add coolant or does the level just change suddenly between when the car is hot and cold? When the coolant heaps up it expands into the overflow bottle, filling it up. As the car cools it draws this overflow coolant back into the radiator, causing the level to go down. If you're continually having to top up the radiator and overflow bottle then you could have blown a headgasket, unless you are overheating it so much that the coolant is literally boiling and evaporating in the overflow bottle (possible, but it'd have to be pretty serious to be doing it in large volumes)
  11. Programming a GPS takes a lot more button-presses and concentration than simply changing a radio station, hence why it is disabled whilst the car is moving, to prevent the driver being distracted. Same reason why dash-mounted DVD screens can't play movies unless the handbrake is activated, to stop drivers being distracted by a movie whilst driving. It's not a "terrible feature", it is a safety implementation to stop people taking their eyes off the road and plowing into a telegraph pole, or worse oncoming traffic.
  12. There's an Aurion Body kit going for sale soon from Japan - looks a bit like the Mark X - they should bring that car to Australia. Totally agree! I would definitely buy the Mark X if they were sold here.. I considered importing but seems that they do not allow it to be privately imported.. x( You can now import the current model GRX133 Mark X as of a couple of months ago, mate in Tassie is getting the first one in the country (and was the guinea-pig for compliancing)
  13. All of the above? Remember that E10 (unless you're in NSW) is ~94/95RON anyway (ie same as Premium), so as long as the fuel system is compatible with ethanol (which it would be in a new car) then there would be no issues running E10. The comments by the dealer about not using E10 are a personal preference and probably hinge around the increased fuel consumption and damage to fuel systems not capable of running ethanol fuels (which lawnmowers almost certainly aren't) 95 is common especially in Europe and Japan (Australia has relatively crappy fuel) so can see the reasoning there.

  15. Not all oil cooler lines are hard-pipe - a short rubber section could be seeing frequent heat cycles (as the flow to the cooler opens and closes) as well as being exposed to the elements living up under the front bar, so I could see it perishing (just not so quickly)
  16. Just FYI, the bistro section is separate from the bar. And there are plenty of tables etc outside where you can sit, eat and enjoy the sun. Also, depending on the pub, under 18s can be in the bar section as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult - small bar licenses don't normally allow this though (and Wollombi Tavern isn't that huge).
  17. Will have to double-check the dates, but I'm keen. Wollombi run is always good, and I'm much closer to home at the end of it too.
  18. This thread (and the event associated with the first post) is 7 years old.... The current monthly meet thread (it gets updated each month, most months are just meets at Greenacre but there is the occasional cruise) is found at the link below http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/34174-sydney-monthly-meet27713-eomm/
  19. I was just generalising - every insurance policy, claim, excess and insurer are different.
  20. S12 Gazelle....and no, we don't need any more pictures of the dirty Datsun :P
