    Rat troubles

    Same her ein the US with Mice.....Then leave the accorns all over the car. Usually they leave it in the air intake box, lol. I've had to clean them out so many times. And same as Rolla Boy, they eat through wires here too. One nawed a piece of a spark plug wire off on my dad's car last year!

    Nah, that was when my car was stock, before I had engine work, lol. It hink it can do 120-125mph stock in 3rd (4 speed Auto). But yeah, the RPMs are a hell of a lot lower at that speed in 4th (overdrive) gear, lol.

    The US gas ratings use different numbers, even though it;s the same as yours. The US 87 gas is the same as your 91, the US 93 gas is the same as your 97/98. I used to use US 93 for my V6 untill gas started going up, then started to use 87. I HAVE to use 91 or higher now because I have a Supercharger. A lot of the US uses E10 (10% ethanol) gas, and you don;t have a choice. Many states here ONLY sell E10, and you can't get anything else. But even though it's E10, we still use the same octane ratings when filling up.

    Here's an example of what the car does if it's in 3rd gear (O/D off) at high speed. If it was in 4th gear, the RPM's would be extreamly lower. Actually, I guess to add to everything else, the lower RPM's is also better for the car's reliability and wear. :)

    ECT OFF is best for gas mileage, as it shifts at lower RPM's, hence using less gass. O/D ON for sure uses less gas, as 4th gear is overdrive. So while on the highway, it keeps the RPM's lower. If you turn O/D off, it will keep the car in 3rd gear, putting out much higher RPM's extreamly reducing the gas mileage.
  8. ^ Ah, good to know the Aus cars diagnostic port is the same as the US car's.
  9. ^ Exactly OBD2 has a totally seperate connector under the dash that OBD1 does not have. So thereforfor there is not even a way to hook the OBD2 reader up. And as stated above, there is a diagnostic port where you need to jump too conenctors. Turn the key to on, but do not start the car. The CEL will flass a 2 digit code usually. "Blink Blink-----------Blink Blink Blink Blink" for example would be code 24. then you just need to look up what code that is.

    Servicing....

    Didn't realize that was the actual mileage. I've seen people ask about the 120,000 service (as well as other mileages), and not even be near that mileage. At 120,000km, if your rear main seal is leaking, and you have a leak in the timing belt area: 1: The previous owner (if your not the original owner), badly neglected the car. 2: Your car was screwed up when made. 3: The dealer is playing games. The 5SFE engine does get rear main seal leaks, but rarely at that mileage. Same with oil leaks from the timing belt area, not at all normal at 120k. I can however see at that mileage, that the struts may be going bad. That's not suprising. and you have to replace the struts in pairs (Front or Back). But at that mileage, I'd have all 4 replaced if 1 is bad. The others are probably not far behind. I'd say take it to another shop (not a dealer), who has a good reputation. Do not say what the problems are that the dealer stated. I'd ask if they can check to see if there is "any oil leaks".
  11. OEM 1MZ filters are normally like $5-$6. Some dealers you can get a case of 10 for around $35USD. I need to weight one and see how heavy they are. I wonder what shipping would be.
