    New Dash

Hey guys, I'm looking to have a dash interface replaced/re-moulded as the current one is cracking and showing its age. Are there any recommended solutions, how-to's, people who could help in this area? Cheers!
  4. Sunny, out of interest, how much roughly would those engines cost?
  5. i hope they dont either! I dont really know about the shape of it though..
  6. another good place is skylines australia. there are forums with just those in your state and is a great place. ive been a member there since ive had mine and there are always ppl to give advice and lend things to ya if u need to pass rego :D J-spec DO offer to and have imported vehicles with major mods. ie race purpose cars, left hand drive etc.. but they;re just unable to comply it.
  7. Hi, Thank you very much for your answer. I have a few questions for you and please, allow me. Do you buy yourself or do you order them? How much cost you for their service fees? Do you know someone can arrange import for my car? Thanks again for your help. Cheers, Cliff Yeah there are heaps of importers mate. Just buy yourself a copy of High Performance Imports at your local newsagent and they have heaps of ads for importers. A majority of them import alot of Nissan's, but slowly there have been a steady increase of Toyota imports hitting the shores. Mark II, Caldina etc.. There's heaps of them around with websites, but i cant think of any from the top of my head. sspi.com.au j-spec.com.au svi.com.au The way that I imported my car was that I provided them with a budget and the type of car that I wanted. They themselves deal with their people who scour around the auction websites with what I wanted. They contacted me at work with photo's of the car and specs that was in my budget -- and of course, you're not obligated to buy it. Once I received details of an R33 that I wanted, I told them to bid for it and I put in a deposit. When I won it, it took about 6 weeks for it to arrive in Australia. That's where they took it to their shop and did whatever they had to, to reach the aus requirements. Then I just transferred the rego after the 3 months rego they gave with the car and here it still remains. I reckon just take it easy. Join the forums and clubs and read about their experiences and shizzle.. I hope that answers your question(s).
  8. Well if you're stuck for a tacho, I'm selling my autometer monster tacho for $50 -- did the job in my celica, when the original one was goneski's.
  9. I guess Im a nube. I joined sometime last year whilst I had my ra28 but never really posted, just watched. Now I have a skyline. Hopefully someone will by that off me, then I'll start looking into getting a hilux!
  10. I went to Domayne for mine once.. 15c I think... I also went to big dubs to print photo's there once and they also told me to come back in a ridiculous amoutn of time. But being an ex employee there I knoew that 90 minutes meant about 15 mins. just depending on the workload, time of week etc.. you can usually pop back now and then.
  11. Hmmm, I'm not sure whether or not all imported cars undergo the same thing when they come into the country. I was under the assumption all importers provided all the necessary work to comply with the standards? When I had my skyline imported, the importers (southside performance imports) arranged everything for me so I could just pop into the shopfront and take ownership of the car over the counter. They had to ensure that everything complied to all australian standards.. which meant having to bust through parcel shelf speakers to put the child restraint clips in.
  12. This is the first ive ever heard of one! How Exciting. I remember when there were a few WRX cop cars.. hopefully the TRD's will stay a little bit longer.
  13. Yeah it looks like thats the way to go. Thanks for feedback everyone! .. but I guess I'll just have to concentrate on selling my car first!
  14. thanks for that! yeah i figured that NRMA wouldnt have much power, if any, on the modifications. dickson wil still want a cert. Ahhh well, I guess Ill have to settle for something less smaller and less fun looking!
  15. I contacted the seller of the above testosterone filled hilux and asked whether or not it came with an engineer's certificate. The reply was: No she doesn't have an engineers certificate. You just need to take her to an NRMA and they will certify her for the modifications. Ta The car is currently in NSW, so I will have to have it inspected before putting it in my name. ..now I don't know how to take that. Does that mean that a certificate isn't required, but NRMA will provide something that I can show for the inspection? Or regardless of what NRMA can certify, anything modified will need an engineer's certificate? Hmm.. pondering. Any assistance will be awesomeness. (I assume when she writes 'her', she's referring to the hilux, right?)
  16. my g/f's dad is pretty high up within the AFP and the stories they go on about and what they do to have a laugh is really annoying and makes me want to hit him. coming from a 'high performance' car owner's point of view, its really unfair.
  17. yeah i was looking into getting a caldina/stagea! It would be different to getting a forester or wrx wagon. They're becoming as common as camry's now! But im pretty keen on getting a hilux. I've seen a few these being imported when i had my 33 imported. Although havent seen/heard of one in the ACT.. hmm, perhaps i should rethink the hilux....
  18. Hi guys, I originally posted this in the general discussion thread, but thought I could also get some more opinions in this thread. I am back into the toyota forums whilst I end my stint with Skylines. I'm looking to purchase one of these bad boys after I sell my R33 Skyline (PM for details) My question is: As massive and as testosterone filled these things look, does this 1990 TOYOTA HILUX RN106R SR5 Dual Cab need to have some sort of engineers certificate? Or is it how it is? An example of what one of these had listed as extras are below. Any input would be of great use. Cheers! -2" Body Lift -2.5" Extended Heavy Duty Greasable Shackles (Front & Rear) -Extended Brake Lines -Extended Wheel Base -TJM Flared Guards -Chrome Door & Tailgate Handles, Mirrors, Grill, Bar, Apron & Headlight Surrounds -ARB Heavy Duty Front Bull Bar (Bolt on for Off Road) -Snake Racing 2" Lifted Front Cross Member -Dropped Heavy Duty Drag Link (Steering) -Heavy Duty Steering Torque Rod -Heavy Duty Steering Dampener -Momo Steering Wheel -Inverted Rear Shock Conversion -Rancho Heavy Duty 9-way Adjustable Shock Absorbers -1.5" Raised Heavy Duty Springs -2" Lift Suspension Blocks -ARB Diff Lockers Front & Rear -2" Wheel Spacers All Around (4" Wider Wheel Track) -Extended, Reinforced & Balanced Tailshaft -15" x 10" Eagle Polished Alloy Wheels (U.S.) -Brand New 35" Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Tyres -2.5 Exhaust -Kenwood CD Player & Speakers -Remote Central Locking -Alarm - Door & Window Protection, Shock & Motion Sensors and Black Wiring -3 Point Immobiliser -Fresh Paint (Never Smashed) -Long Range Fuel Tank -Canopy Available (Not Fitted)
  19. I hate dickson. Grr. I thought that even if you bought the car here and it was over 'x' amount of years - it has to go over the pits. I purchased an RA28 here and still had to get it engineered and taken over the pits. Grrr.. Does the price of a certificate vary from car to car? Or is it a flat rate? I used that Wilson fella and he missed a couple of things which was pretty annoying.
  20. thanks alot for that guys, appreciate it muchly. I will be heading off road , but could probably settle for something a little less extreme
