  1. AAMI. No questions asked. I told them i lowered it and added mags and tint. They said ok. As a matter of fact i got my renewal yesterday. Insured for 40k. $813. Age might be an issue if you are younger than 25. I'm old 33. Im 21 insured my car for $50,000 and im paying $671 With AAMI too thats really good. im 19 atm turning 20 this month and i pay 895 yearly for the zr6 2007. which is still good compared to my age. when you call them up to say you have done modifications to the car, do they ask for receipts of the wheels and tyres etc? No, they don't ask for anything. I would assume that if you make a claim they will ask for proof of purchase.

  3. dang. i dont wanna know how much your tyres. cost (yes i do) hehe heheh, what i should have said, is wheels "and" tyres were $2100. I think the rims were $1400 and tyres were $700 (only a cheapish tyre MAXXIS MA-V1). They came priced as a package so purchasing them separately may be a whole different story price wise. I'm surprised, the tyres are actually very grippy in the wet and dry. They rated well in the 'Wheels' tyre test. My only critisism would be that they are a little noisy compared to the Michelin Energy's that were on the car from factory. Probably go for some better tyres when it comes time to change them.
  4. Suspension was $550. Ride is smooth, and controlled. I was also worried about having too harsh a ride, but even with 18's and lowered suspension the ride is not to harsh or stiff. Wheels from memory were around $2100. Tyres are 235x40x18. Wheels are 18x8
  5. Thanks for all the comments guys. I choose 18's, otheriwse the ride gets a bit harsh on Sydney's roads. Have not measured ground clearance. Generally its ok, only bottoms out on some steep driveways. As long as you approach on an angle it doesn't hit. Price was $550, but that included, wheel alignment and balance. It also includes another free aligment after i do 500km on the springs.
  6. Well finally some nice weather. Good time ti wash the car and take some pics showing the new lowered suspension. I ended up with Pedders Sports Ryder Progressive rate springs with a 55mm drop. Got it fitted by Bob Jane. Ride is smooth, slightly firmer, but it corners so much better now. No more inside wheel spin under harder acceleration. New suspension makes a remarkable difference to how much power you can put down, before traction control takes over. As an added bonus it looks great too.

That looks hot!!!! Checkout Pedders, I lowered mine last week with Pedders springs. Got them fitted at my local bob jane - better service. Lowered it 55mm. If its not raining tomorrow, i'll wash it and post some photos.
  8. A tip from my point of view, and i was successful at getting one of my cars replaced in the past is to bypass the dealer completely. They have no authority to do anything when it comes down to replacing the car. They act as an agent for toyota selling their product. It's in their best interest to spend time and money fixing the car under warranty. The get paid by Toyota for all warranty work carried out. My old car (another brand) had $12,000 in parts alone replaced on it, before i got the Head Office to step in. I was on the phone everyday to the liason asking for an update, HO was not happy to keep forking out for warranty repairs and still not get anywhere. Eventually after pushing and pushing on my behalf, they asked what i wanted - i told them i wanted a car that was up to the standard a new car should be. If they can't fix it, then replace it. They agreed to replace it. A the time the series 2 version had been released (mine was series 1), they couldn't find a series 1 in the same colour in manual that i had, so they ordered and built a new series 2 in my original colour/trim and transmission. some weeks later i had a new car. My advice - don't talk to the dealer anymore. All communication must be via the Head office. They warrant the product. If you can demonstrate that the problems are not able to be repaired to new car standard, they will do somehting to rectify the situation. You don't want the dealer involved!!! my 2c
  9. Sounds exactly like mine. Noticeable clunk followed by a slight vibration which lasts about a second. It's more noticeable when the car is really cold in the morning. If you put the car in Park and then turn it off, and then back on. When you put it in Drive and drive off, you will notice it again, only this time much less noticeable. You really have to listen to it when the car has already been warmed up. I thought it was the shift too. But the testing occurs when the car hits 20km/hr. Under normal acceleration when cold the car will shift from 1st to 2nd at 20km/hr too, so it feels like the gear change making the clunk. Hold 1st with the sequential, and you will see that it will still do it even while you stay in 1st. I've been in a few Aurions, and they all do it. Some are louder than others. I find mine changes. Some days you can't even notice it, other days you can really notice it. It seems the colder it is the more you can notice it. BlueAurionSX6 - be patient, but persistent. Not too long ago i had issues with a vehicle from a certain blue logo'd local manufacturer, i ended up with a replacement new car at no cost to me. It took almost 18months to get it, but i got it!!
  10. The clunk is normal. I was concerend about it too. I had toyota look into it. Its the ABS module self testing when you first start driving. You can confirm that its not your gearbox buy putting the car in Sports 1 mode (straight after starting it, before driving) and start driving. You will still hear the clunk as the revs build. It has nothing to do with the gear change. I don't think it will be an issue when selling the car, as buyers would have probably test driven a few Aurions and will see that they all do it.
  11. my passenger seat (zr6 seats) make a funny electric noise when moved forward compared to the driver seat also the middle console sometimes rattles when you rest your left leg when driving the car. everything is well apart from those 2 noises im happy :) no leaf noises from the aircon at all. going for its first service very soon so i should get those checked out. also im going to ask if they can remove my top speed limiter. i havent reached 240kmh and over yet as im going to go for it after the service. bawhahaha - good luck with that. Thats the stupidest thing i've heard in a while...
  12. Fill up with ordinary unleaded RON91. After all, the ADR fuel economy figures are tested using RON 91 petrol. I full up with Vortex98 and get around 9.8/100 mixture of a little highway and mostly stop start traffic. My tank gets me 600km and still has usually 10 litres to spare. Should be able to get 650 no probs. If you are heavy on the acclerator you will see your consumption rise rapidly. The Aurion is a heavy car. I generally don't push it during day to day driving.
  13. OK after a grueling 2 months wait yesturday I picked up my Gold Aurion ZR6 with tints, mats and bluetooth and all I can say is I'm loving it, loving it, loving it!!!. I have taken a couple of friends from work for a drive in it and Toyota can expect another two customers. Also took a friend who owns a new Volvo, sorry don't know what model, but will also be trading that in for the Aurion. It is better than I expected and I expected alot. Thank you Toyota! Nice, congrats. I bet it was worth the wait. Whats involved with the bluetooth option? My dealer didn't mention it to me when i ordered mine. Is it itegrated into the stereo, or is it a separate component? Post a pic of it if you can. Thanks. Thanks "DKzr6", it was definately worth the wait. As for the bluetooth, it is a separate component but it is itegrated into the stereo. The button to answer the phone is situated next to the button for the reverse sensors and the mic sits just on top of the stering column (hardly noticable). The voice comes out of the radio/cd player on the left hand speakers. I don't know why it doesn't come out of all the speaker but they told me thats the only way it works. I have tested and used it and it works fine. Nice. I like the setup Bluetooth is definately an option i would have purchased if the dealer told me about it. Do you mind if a ask how much the blue tooth option cost?

  15. How so.. i tryed it.. did'nt notice that much. For starters, try getting cleanly off the line on hard throttle openings. Too much throttle and instant loss of traction, too little throttle and nothing, Just the right amount will see you launch it much quicker than when the traction control is on. Try pushing it hard through a few roundabouts. You get massive differences in exit speeds. Normally with TC on when the nose starts to understeer out, the TC limits the power until the car has straightened out after exiting the corner/roundabout. Without TC, go in hard, get a little understeer, back it off for a second and then get back on the power hard. The car will launch out of the corner/roundabout much much quicker. If you drive like a grandma, then you won't notice the TC doing anything. If you push your car a bit, you will see how much it's performance has been retarded by the TC. Switch it off, push the car, to it's grip limits, back off, and then nail it. Much much quicker.
  16. You can turn off trac control by following the steps below. I posted this up a while ago in another thread. THe method below works. But you need to do each time you start the car if you want the TC off. By default it turns back on each time you start the car. 1. Make sure the car is in Park and the parking brake is disengaged before you start the car. 2. Start the engine. 3. Engage the parking brake. 4. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release. 5. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release. 6. Disengage the parking brake. 7. Fully depress and hold down the brake pedal. 8. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal). 9. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal). 10. Release the brake pedal. 11. Engage the parking brake. 12. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release. 13. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release. Its a bit convoluted, but i tried it and i works. Totally changes the driving experience.
  17. The total RRP price was $2100 including tyres. The tyre i selected was a Maxis brand. It scored well in the Wheels tyre test. I'd rank it average. Definately better than the oem tyre, but not as good as the bridgestone RE050a i had on my previous liberty. You may be able to get the package cheaper with cheaper tyres, or pay more with better tyres. I also sold my old wheels which dropped the price significantly. (again this price may vary depending on where you go)
  18. Thanks for the comments guys. Yeah they look great on white. I couldn't be happier with them.
  19. Hi Everyone, Well, after much thought i decided to get some new wheels for my ZR6. I loved the photos on here a while back of the 10spoke wheels an a ZR6. So i got a set of B.Boss Eleanor 18x8 wheels. (had to wait 6 weeks for the container to come in) Put a set of 235x45x18 tyres on. Absolutely love it. Handling is so much better. Makes it easer to takeoff under power and not loose traction. Pics included.
  20. Hi, Would love to know how to dim the radio backlight. There are quite a few people on here that would love to see a guide. If you get a chance please post up how you did it.. Thanks
  21. Hi, I used eclipse speakers (fujitsu ten). 7 x 10 would be a tight fit. You could probably fit them, however depth would be an issue. The 6x9 only have about 3-4 mm gab between the magnet and the window glass when it opens. Bringing the speakers forward with a bigger baffle would cause them to interfere with the door trim. 6x9's give excellent bass and clarity. Can't see why you would need more.
  22. I emailed Toyota about this issue and i got a response along the lines of "We are aware of customers reluctance to accept this feature, and are working on a solution to dim the lighting" They were not able to provide details of when a solution would be available. At least they are working on it.
  23. hey hey, can u try find how to disable the seat belt signal? thanks!! Here you go = Try this. 1. turn the key to the ON position, foot off the brake 2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B ) 3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position 4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled. 5. turn the key to the ON position. when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. 6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt. 7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset. 8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off. This should disable the seatbelt warning.
  24. heyhey, impressive, did u try and keep on trying till it works?! or some mech told u? But doing the same way again will enable if again rite? I found it on a Lexus forum. It was then repeated on another us forum where someone tried it on their Rav4. You have to follow the procedure every time you want to turn of the VSC. It resets back to default when you restart the car normally.
