  1. Thanks Tony, yes a nice easy project to keep me out of the house and can take my time doing it right, I have all the Rust Oleum Paints and Clear coats listed as they were short of stock for quite a while but now seem to be getting back on the shelves again at Bunnings also have the Scotchbrite already as I used them a while back to make something for my beloved come back to life again also have lots of fine grit wet and dry sand paper if required. No really deep scratch marks just loads of pitting all over it so should be an easy fix. I also looked at the Rust Oleum Black trim and Bumper spray but it is like $5 more a can than the normal Rust Oleum Sprays so cant really see the value that way, Thanks again Detail God you always come through.

  2. Hi all, So the Chrome Custom Grill on my lady "Faye" is showing bad signs of her age and pitting marks all over her pretty face, I am thinking about repainting her to either a Matt Black or Satin Black as I do not want a gloss finish with all the black trim being that matt satin look. I am thinking about using Rust Oleum for my paint selection and depending on what finish the matching Clear to finish it off. Has anyone had good results with repainting over the Chrome Grills? and what did you use? Some have said to me to try the Plasti-Dip but not sure how long it would last so any suggestions are welcome ..besides replacing the damn thing as they want $400 to replace these custom grills so not going there as it is fine except needing a revamp.

  3. Hi Kris, there is a vast assortment of Double Din head units now available that offer Apple and Android play, I would suggest going online to check out good audio supply stores to gain a price and idea of what you will get for your money, most will offer the required facia kits and cables required to connect any steering controls as well so make sure you consider that as well.

I added a nice Clarion unit years ago (Pictures in my profile) and had Monster Audio do it all as they had everything instore to do the job very well, have not looked back as a new unit gave me modern maps and a way better sound quality, plus 2 cables in the glove box that I can plug flash drive with my playlists into.

  4. Hi Kris, I also would check out your nearest Toyota dealer for some mates, as always it depends on what your after and what you can afford to spend, I like the genuine as they fit perfectly and seem to wear very well compared to the cheap and nasty you find online or in parts stores.

As far as the divider for the console I would check if Toyota have any to get a price guide but also check out wreckers as it is the sort or part they would have when wrecking the car and should be fairly reasonable price wise, I like to hunt online so maybe start there as you can do that safely and see what is out there. Some good wreckers will also check for you through their system Australia wide.

  5. Welcome to the forum Chris, As Ashely said that is non standard the cable tie and would certainly make me dig into the CV a lot more where the sling has landed is a good indicator that there is a tear in the boot. I would also check with Toyota about the oil lines they can tell you if any recalls have been performed on the Kluger always handy to know anything that should have been done was done.

  6. Thanks Tony, Yes I have received a reply from them and it sounds like the correct mirror, they are double checking for me that all the functions work correctly, the pics do show it is in good condition so sounding good on that front, the $75 dollar one was actually reduced from around $!00 but yes that should have been a red flag, I think they were just desperate to get rid of it yes was in good condition but useless if you cant plug it in LOL

thanks again my friend for the assistance, I am awaiting the return postage label from the one to get it back and get a refund then will buy another

    Hugs mate stay safe

  7. Hi Tony, I have sent KSR a message on eBay regarding that mirror, also attached a pic of my 11 pin block just to be sure it has the right pin connector, so thanks for the link mate, some really want to hit you hard at around $200 for the mirror, yes it is off a great car but wow.

If no luck from there the search will begin at the local wreckers as most here have been closed or low staffing numbers but seem they are coming back alive now.

Thanks mate for the assistance it is great appreciated

  8. Hi Tony, What happened was It had taken a hit, not too hard but hard enough obviously to cause an issue and when placed in reverse it dips but then when placed in drive it continues to dip till it clicks, also the memory feature when my wife uses her memory setting it dips and wont stop so have it set to neutral settings. Just annoying when it does its crazy trick, I did purchase on from Rocklea parts in Queensland but even though they stated it was for a Presara and I asked twice that has to have auto dip and memory, when it arrived yesterday I got all the trim off the car got my mirror off taking loads of time to do it right and no damage, I cleaned the new one up really well and I went to fit the new one and it only has the 5 pin plug and mine is 11 pin block, annoying too say the least. I called Rocklea and as mine is a 06/2009 he stated that was for a 08/2009, the confusing part is the 5 pin compared my 11 pin so unless they found a way to get all the functions to operate with 5 pins instead of 11 I just don't know. Anyway as I told Ashley It was my fault going so far and not looking at the plug fitting in the end I put mine back on and they will refund me my money so no issue there just have to pay to post it back too them. I will check those ones out mate but this was only $75 which was great compared to some wanting like $200

Thanks mate for the links it is appreciated, I will check them out,

  9. The case of the mystery battery location is wonderful as it is not me trying to find it and losing hair in the process. I agree has to be closer to engine than back I just hope it isn't one of those starts with wishes models from Toyotas secret development workshop LOL

Sooner or later you will locate it mate for sure, do as Tony suggested and trace the wires back at least it will give you a direction to look following the power wire.

    Good Luck

  10. All true Tony, I sit and watch America go bat **** crazy mate, we had our 3rd shot about 2 weeks ago and for the first time had a sore arm for 2 days and a bit tired. Now pumping good on all cylinders mate. Maybe we can suggest to the Americans they snort Glen 20 as they do advertise it as killing all germs including COVID 🤣🤣🤣

  11. Hi Willem, I had an issue with my Aurion Auto Tilt, when placed in Reverse it would go down as expected but back into drive it would continue to go down had to reset it and then place the mirror switch into the middle so the mirror stayed locked. It also happened whenever the memory setting was used as my wife has her own setting so had to always reset the mirror. I am replacing the mirror assembly that I located on eBay for a good price, I do hope another mirror assembly will sort out the issue, and WOW that is some price for a genuine mirror assembly not knowing if that will fix the issue. Still sounds like one of those weird glitches that annoy us all, maybe even try locating the fuse that controls the mirrors or taking the door trim off and unplug the mirror start the car turn it off and plug back in worth a try mate, I do hope it is sorted fast for you mate as it  is damn annoying when they don't play nice.

  12. Hi Tony, Yes enjoyed this video as well, I commented on his site that the interior destruction of that 2011 Avalon looked like wolverine had gone nuts in there. I would have walked away very fast if I saw that interior and would have thought wow if it is that bad inside what is the rest like. Maybe they will spend the extra dollars doing what he suggested as a new water-pump and idler pully and a radiator will be a few dollars but at least you have an expert and honest man doing the work, I guess it will be a watch and see if they do decide to do that route considering they already spent a packet on all the brakes and sway bars etc.

  13. Thanks Ashley, I watched it last night, as always he explains things very clearly and the section using the probe showed what can come of badly maintained  engine's and the oil change intervals being ignored as in this case over 6 months late for the last one. Good and informative reliable experts should always be listened too,

    Thanks mate
