  1. Hey Guys,

New to the scene, got my stock 03' ZZE122 Corolla Hatch about mid last year. Have only started to think about getting into the modding phase so all this is new to me. I find it interesting and take it as a new hobby so any help will be much appreciated. Since I'm only a uni student, just wondering what are some cheap modifications to improve a stock cars performance or appearance?

    Cheers

buy my whiteline rear sway mar and cusco front strust brace in the FS section

  2. celicas are definatly the racier of the 2 just sitting in them you sit so low to the ground

was it and sx or zr mate, what colour?

    2000 SX in white.

Engine feels a little tired, however i will get a powerFC for it and see how it goes from there. It is easier to drive, much sportier (as you said you sit low (200SX low)) and its still good on fuel.

Plus its a toyota so it wont cost an arm and a leg to fix should anything go wrong.

the lack of ABS is the only thing which worries me considering the amount that I use it. :P

come out on Thursday night if you want to take the Rolla for a fang mate

  3. That is a really cheap 7th gen... hope there's nothing dodgy about it.

Pah Celicas better then Sportivo :P. Lighter, better suspension.. plus coupe goodness.

Now if you will excuse me, some Sportivo owners want to take me into a corner and beat the snot out of me.

nah nothing too dodgey about it. just got reasonably high km's hence why it is cheaper. everything about the celica is nicer than the sportivo :P

Come on Phil....have a go at me now!

  4. belts are good for more than 80km however nothing stopping you replacing it then.

rattle comes from the tensioner pulley. mine is kind of fixed with just a pulley replacement, however a full tensioner arm is the way to go if you want to stop the rattle.

at the end of the day there is nothing wrong with your car.

  5. yeah i'll try to relax a bit more ;) the only thing really worrying me here is the diesel sound from the engine when idle, hopefully changing the oil from 10W40 to penrite 10W50 will eliminate that... gotta wait til another 7000kms though >_>

Hahahahaha! mate all 2ZZ engines have the diesel sound at idle. oil choice will not change it :)

trust me. your car is A OK! :D

  6. I never wanted to argue the point as it's nothing to do with the topic but from playing around with a few old mercedes and BMW's my dad and his friends have owned i can vouch for their quality, especially when aged. I'd lean more towards a mercedes for the simple fact that you cannot go past them for build quality, absolutly amazing. Boring possibly but whats hot about a stock IS200 , they are about as quick as cammel

slow is an understaement :P but they do drive very very nice :)

  7. Ever heard of the saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

no offence but you seem to create all these fictional problems with your car! I know of a few guys with 2zz's that have gone 200,000km's without replacing a chain, water pump etc.

a bit of coolant is nothing to worry about. as soon as water starts pi$$ing out of the seal then replace. your car probably overheated because you were driving in traffic. 3/4 on the temp guage is nothing to worry about! once it gets to the H mark begin to worry.

truly man you are driving a very reliable car. just relax and enjoy it. dont spend unnecessary money on things that dont need to be fixed.

  8. Hey Guys/Girls,

I am chasing some ideas for a new ride. As much as I love my Sportivo, my overseas holiday requires funds so a quick sale fo the car into something a little cheaper might be the go.

So far i ahve been looking at Lexus IS200's but havent found one on the condition I want so I am open to new ideas. It doesnt need to be fast, but something with a bit of style would be good.

Let the ideas roll on in. fee free to post links to cars on carsales etc :)

  9. List of what is getting done:

    Removal of SC kit

Tapped manifold and throttle body pipe for Bypass valve.

    Valve added

    Kit reassembled / installed

    wiring of Blitz ECU removed

Replace with wiring of Emanage Blue

SC clutch wiring to bypass valve to activate clutch

Emanage Blue Tuning on Dyno (Dyno Dynamics)

Hopefully should be running well when complete :D

    Evo

I really hope this nets you a decent power gain evan!

    PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. thanks i'll have a look first thing tomorrow... but is the belt the same belt that turns the alternator engine pulley etc.? its a 7 year old belt so maybe it needs changing regardless

yeah mate it's the acc belt which does alternator, water pump, powersteering, aircon etc.

probably time for a change at 7 years old :)
