  1. Ele- awesome car. Mitsu Powah!

Phil - going by your argument, my lancer, which on paper had a worst power to weight ratio than a stivo should fail in a straight line race. HOw come a stivo struggles to get a 0-100 in 7.5 and the lancer did it in 6.5?

torque will always win....im putting another carton on ele pipping you every time! :P

  2. if you want a decent octane booster for cheap use TOLUENE. you can puchase in 20L drums. add 2 litres to every tank with 98 and you will ahve close to 101 octane. costs around $60 per 20 litres. much cheaper than the octane boosters you will fidn in supercheap.

F1 cars back in the late 80's\early 90's used 80% toluene as fuel :)

  3. hey everyone, just installed my rear coilovers today, and i can hear some noise at the back, sounds like the springs are too hard, and go to up and down---Dong,Dong,Dong?and the noise are very small. the guy installed coilovers who told me thatz normal for coilovers, is that ture? thanks

What brand are they? generally coils should not make noises. My last car with coils only started making noise when the bottom spring locking mechanism came loose and the pring rotated as the front wheels turned.

who knows if they are brand new they might loosen up with time though.

  4. There are a couple of ways to deal with the VSV, you can completely remove it by leaving it on the airbox when you take that out and just block off the bung on the TB. Or you can bolt it to the lower airbox support and run the vac line to the blank on the CES pipe [that's how CES do it]. I say just block off the TB and take it out with the airbox [less to do that way].

    Gav.

    Evan,

Your car does not have the vsv that needs to be removed. 1zz's do not have them.....straight bolt on application....let the blue one hang somethere to attach it with a zip tie.

    ok, thanks Trav :D

I will be doing the install tomorrow, just another question though, will I HAVE to remove the front bar?

    How will i do this?

    Evo

I did not have to remove the bar to fit mine in.

unlike the stivo's there is a water draining box (white plastic) that the old intake pipe connects to to reduce the risk of hyrolock should you drive through bonet deep water. YOu need to remove this to fit it in. You can access everything by removing the plastic defelctor plate under the front bar (about 3 screws i think) with your skinny arms you wont have a problem fitting the filter up there. :)

I will be down the coast tomorrow so if you need me to have a look give me a call

  5. HID in reflector style headlights will blind/glare the crap out of everyone... Please only do this if you have projector style head lights.

    agreed

HID in reflector headlights are my pet hate. Its illegal in most states anyway. Get some phillips =80% globes if you want brighter headlights.

better still waste you money on a worthwhile mod

  7. why 15.1 dave?

    YEAH??

    why 15.1?

    Evo

Was that not SD's best time down the quarter?

    The stalker has it :P

Thats currently the stock Sportivo time to beat.

you know you love me following you around dave!

    So to keep my credentials,

    i have to beat a 15.1?

the best i was aiming for was a 15.5... :o

we'll see how i go

    Evo

You have a blower now Evo....there can be no excuses!

  8. some may pay 65k....although for that cash your options open up i guess on other vehicles

45 and it might sell.....i think once again they are a bit overpriced....better than a lancer ralliart though :P

  9. bring it trd lazer

gav, there are people there running 1.20, you know EVO Ralliart's and stuff, so you just got to pace yourself

    whitestivo

Hahahahaha! You crack me up WS. A little bit of humility would not go astray. Afterall no one goes out there to race each other. Its all about bettering yourself. As for a 1.20, show me where in the AWD category that soemone pulled a 1.20 :P Need i remind you once again that in a power to weight ratio war the stivo wins hands down. QR Not being a track that need torque to get you out of corners, means the stivo should be faster if looking at the figures alone.

  10. Did you bed the new pads in?

Might be an issue with very little transfer of pad material to the rotor. Pads are probably still green. I would consider bedding them in first then see if it still happens. :)

Personally I think the OEM pads are the issue witht he sportivos chomping thier calipers. I know plenty of guys that are using aftermarket pads on standard discs with no issues :)

  11. Hey guys,

The Rolla I picked up a few week ago only came with one transponder key. All the others are awol :(

I have a question regarding the non transponder key (the light grey one with the chip in the head with no buttons). On the shaft of the key nearest the head is there a small dot?

I need to know this to find out which type of chip I need to get in the head of my new set. Apparently Toyota changed chip types in 2004/2005 some time. The dot present means the newer type fo chip. No dot mean the older type.

    Pics attached :)

    Any help would be awesome!

    Cheers, Trav
