  1. New topic! How many people bothered with the complimentary first service? Service is perhaps a bit generous, they inspect your vehicle and send you on your way. For me the dealer I bought from is a good hour drive away, so I'm kinda leaning away from doing this. What did everyone else decide on? Skipping this should not affect any warranty claims (i believe).
  2. Kinda curious if this got resolved! Did you get your money back or has Toyota finally issued the manual?
  3. It would pay to clarify if a third party accessory could be bought to get he factory camera and steering wheel controls in. Such things exist for other manufacturers.
  4. Hehe. I've always wanted to own a brightly coloured car. My previous one was black and a complete PITA to keep clean! (Looked great for a day after a wash).
  5. Side note for any one thinking of buying a CHR this year, dealer was saying they are looking at 4 month waits now. Koba's are so in demand that they weren't keeping them as demo's. As new topics that come to mind I'll make a new thread! Thought this was still relevant to this thread.
  6. My Day 1 feelings of the head unit.. it's fugly! I've spoken to my sales person and the delivery person separately at my dealership sounds like they have practiced their response to the update question as they said the same things word for word. Basically Toyota is slow to update (which does align with everyone else's experiences) but secondly you don't really need to worry about updates since they are so minor (err, no, that's BS). They know they have you over a barrel though. So I am sure I will probably soften my opinion on head unit with time, that said I intend to find someone who stocks the Kenwood unit and get a hands on. edit - Ryda is selling 20% with coupon ending 24 Jun. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kenwood-DDX-917WS-Car-Multimedia-with-GEN-KENWOOD-WARR-/122423444441?epid=718701504&hash=item1c810183d9:g:LysAAOSwB-1Y3fQD
  7. I haven't landed on a name yet. The first obvious option was was CHRistine. But I'm not sure if it feels right ;) Not on Facebook groups yet, so far this is the most active CHR Australian forum I've found.
  8. My baby has arrived. Great fun to drive. Very happy with my purchase. <3
  9. Has anyone sold a factory head on their previous cars? Wondering if that can offset the cost of a new head unit in a meaningful way.
  10. When you pulled off the trim did you have any instructions or just had a crack with a pry bar?
  11. If memory serves the cigarette lighter sits inside the centre console? The usb being on the factory head unit annoys me as well. So my latest thought on replacing the stereo includes replacing the cigarette lighter with a dual usb port from the Kenwood deck (which has 2 usb ports, one apple, one android). There are plenty of how of videos on YouTube, sadly none for the CHR as it is so new. I would like to take a crack at doing all this myself, I do worry about stuffing up electronics and trim though.
  12. $750 is the best I've done with AAMI. Market value with $650 excess, Eastern Sydney garaged location and high yearly k's.
  13. Kenwood have a nice unit for the Toyota http://www.kenwood.com/au/car/visual_navigation/ddx917ws/ No GPS but you can make that up with Car Play and Android Auto. No DAB+ either. A little pricey as well. However the harness supplied will suit the *edit* factory power/speaker and steering wheel control plugs, You will need to source reverse camera and antenna adaptors. Plus wire in park brake and reverse trigger. You will also need to install the supplied microphone since the factory one is on the Toyota head unit itself. *end edit* Install video on the Toyota 86 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Cj5nxT4qkM
  14. Hooray! Sunday pick up for me (Friday stuck at work and Saturday they were booked out!) but excited none the less.
  15. I don't know if I should trust this tracking system or not since I've now jumped straight into the dealership. Very excited in any case!
  16. My delivery ETA has moved from the 30th to the 25th at least. I'm not sure where my little Koba is in the world but working off my original assumption my ship has docked at Port Kembla today and maybe the tracking system is a little off. In any case I know I'll have it by month end, just getting a bit antsy the closer we get.
  17. Westworld Season 2 is out in 2018, such a great show yet such a long wait. Like the wait for my car, still being prepared for transport. I can't waaaaaait!
  18. Well I am very confused now! Either it was on a different boat or transporting from Brisbane.
  19. The rear windows privacy tint is very dark. If you put anything on top of it it'll likely go beyond what's legal.
  20. Date hasn't change from original ETA 30/07/2017 but I am hoping its sooner than that. If K line push back a day then it's in Port Kembla on the 17th. Hopefully doesn't take it too long to get to Sydney and prepared after that.
  21. My ship is going to be a day late into Brisbane. Hope that doesn't have a knock on effect. My poor baby must have hit rough seas!
  22. Yep. Sydney doesn't have a port for car drop offs. So the east coast ships make multiple stops on the way down the coast. Sydney is serviced by Port Kembla. I drive into Wollongong regularly for work and you get to see the car carrying trucks bringing them into Sydney.
  23. My boat seems to have hit a non tracking zone. Which doesn't change anything except for the fun of seeing it get closer to Australia. Perhaps I'm obsessed ;)
  24. Anyone thinking of installing a dash cam? Been mulling it over and something with a parking mode does appeal.
