  1. Donnot, yeah forgot to mention "compared to my factory 17" touring alloys" they sit 10mm inwards away from the wheel arch if that makes sense. It's noticeable but not that much and I'm content. They bolt straight on, and use the same shank type wheel nuts that my alloys used.... I can't comment if steel wheels use different nuts. Center bore hole is the same, and offset is very close to stock so no spacers needed. From my research, the 'perfect' fitting tyre on a 7" wide rim is 225, but 235 is still considered suitable & I wanted as wide as possible. I've painted a few spokes on mine to resemble the updated chr wheels as the "petal" look got tiring after awhile. While take a Pic in a sec
  2. Apologize for the quote, for some reason this page has it prefilled and I can't delete it all. Anyway, the chr rims sink in 10mm more than standard. I'm running 235s and doesn't scrub, if that helps. There's a couple sites which let u enter details of rim sizes for comparison to see if it's doable. I remember even looking at a factory Nissan qashqai 19" rim to fit on my aurion as the specs were so similar, just needing a hub ring to make it fit, but came across the chr's cheap
  3. Have u adjusted the brightness setting. Just checking first.
  4. 18s on an aurion still leaves it a smooth ride due to the 45 series sidewall. I personally wouldn't go bigger. Don't forget, chr wheels fit as well....
  5. Looks great. Yes they will settle a bit. And yes, lowered cars being uncomfortable is mostly a myth. I had my 2001 falcon fitted with superlows & and new shocks struts, and to this day the most comfortable car I've ever driven
  6. There's plenty variables in a cars wear. But kms are important.... I would never buy anything over 150k. And prefer under 120k. A looked after car with low kms is a dream boat, feel like new. A high km car that's been maintained will still feel like its worn
  7. I bought a 2001 au Fairmont ghia from a dealer who worked from home which picked up most his cars from the auctions. This one only had 120,000km (yes that seems to be my lucky number 😂) which was very low for that age. It drove smooth & was a very tight vehicle. Flawless. All I did to it was full sports exhaust & extractors. After a couple years I decided to sell & advertised it 2k more than others on carsales. Bloke came around with his son who was looking for his first car, & I quickly got tired of his questions I gave them the keys & said drive it. They came back with a huge smile, then started whinging about the asking price. I said u can go save a couple grand on other cheaper rough fairmonts, then spend the next couple years fixing ****, and u will end up spending the same money, but won't have a low km pristine example like this. Fair enough he says & the deal was done 👍
  8. Cost me 1200 to convert my falcon. I would do it in a heartbeat if it were the same for an aurion
  9. Not a serious machine. Cammed & tuned 1994 6cyl falcon. With the 4.11 diff revved higher on the highway obviously, but sat at peak Rev efficiency so fuel usage was negliable. I miss tinkering with older cars, but have no money anymore Vid I've posted before, someone made for me years ago. Yes it's corny 😂 https://youtu.be/cqR_ifA9rL8
  10. Trick is, don't go for the big corner shop allotments with the bright red & yellow triangle flags. Find em on carsales, the small shed guys with minimal overheads, who buy & flip cars quick. My 2011 touring cost 9700 with 120,000kms..... Cheaper than anything else I could find. Few stone chips in the bonnet & bumper I will attend to one day, but overall happy chappy. Missus Subaru liberty on carsales from franchise dealer, same Kay's, was work vehicle and it did another 120,000km without spending a cent no quality issues at all before we got rid of it for peanuts as the timing belt was due along with radiator etc. Comes down to basics when buying a car. Look for lowest kms.... Look for service history. How does it drive? Does it shift nicely cold & hot? Does it stop good? Does it show any leaks after a drive? What's the reason for sale? Does the seller look sincere?
  11. Yeah I converted one of my previous projects to manual, along with a 3.73 lsd diff...... Ohhh heaps fun. .... Then after a year I got lazy & converted back to auto & 4.11 lsd to keep some sort of "perkiness" The aurion handles like a boat & doesn't feel sporty, but sometimes I wish it was a manual...
  12. Yards can be full of ****, but private can be worse. Yards have the connections to cheaply rectify issues in a car, whereas private sellers do their best to hide or band aid the problem without spending a cent. Yards take in a lot of business registered vehicles that have been maintained by the company. Have purchased a few ex company cars from dealers, such as my aurion for cheap with relatively low kms and had success. Have also wasted a lot of time inspecting pieces of **** from private sellers with misleading advertisements.
  13. 86 being a manual will do that. Anything auto kills the vibe. Manual can give it random throttle in any gear & stills feels kind to the vehicle. Flooring it in an auto means long pause followed by huge stall into lower gear & harsh kickback & wheelspin, then transmission thump when you've backed off & confused it. Autos suck.
  14. Regarding psi, place cards specify low figures for comfort. Tyre shops always pump em up to 38-40psi cold where they should be
  15. As is the case with dad's merc, there isn't even a space saver wheel, hence the need for the run flats
  16. Ah OK, don't know much about euros. My dad has a Mercedes, with expensive run flats as standard, and he contemplated buying a spare wheel & buy cheaper tyres when it came time to replace them, but as most older people like to do, he decided to keep things "stock"
  17. Cheaper to ditch the run flats & and buy a full size spare & "downgrade" tyre choice me thinks
  18. Also, if your getting a full set of whatever, don't be afraid to play tyre shops against each other. See what kind of deal they can do, even if it's only 10 bucks off each tyre
  19. $192 each is a no brainer. If only they were that cheap in 235/45/18 😭
  20. Buy 3 get 1 free yoko's at Bob Jane https://www.bobjane.com.au/a/215-55r17-tyres/yokohama/advan-fleva-v701-215-55r17-94w/11504?variant_id=11504
  21. From what I've read u will need to keep same spec diameter tubing around the maf to keep the tune in spec.
  22. Mate throw the kn filter in, ur aurion will be fine as long as u don't go crazy with over oiling it. I've personally never had any issues with them, but have found the pod filters work a lot better but only when used in conjuction with a custom intake & colder air placement
