Feel free to jump onto Camcrew, I haven't got a problem there, but Camcrew's quite a close-knitted group - some of them I even trust with my life, and are good mates (was just as Davey's place for the weekend, as the crew were playin skirmish). The main rule on Camcrew is that if you have a problem with someone, you'd let Mods and Admin know (Ie. Myself also) and we'd deal with the situation, rather than taking it into your own hands... if that helps. Heaps of Camrys = much knowledge I bet :)
  2. Sounds like sparks or fuel pump for sure. The fact that it's stoppin right on the same revs each time means that it's something obvious. Have you tried resetting the ECU?
  3. Oi, this isn't a bloody contest on who's wrong or not, if you have any problems, take it up with a Moderator. I really don't wanna have to come onto this forum and see any kind of arguing. He didn't mention that all you're doing is trying to get your post count up, he was saying that if you wanted to sell something, he was advising you to go to Boost Cruising, because you don't need to have any pre-requisites on selling any gear.
  4. Lol, freakin Home and Away saga. Firstly, I don't think we need a long winded saga about who should do what - we don't need insulting either. People can go to Boost Cruising if they wanna insult someone. All he mentioned Gibbo was that if you were wanting to sell something, you can sign up at Boost Cruising, because there's no specific rules straight up on selling equipment. He was merely giving you advice.

The 95 Touring - comes with CD player, upgraded speakers, leather steering wheel & shifter, lowered suspension in the back (equivalent to King Low springs - have measured next to my mate's lowered Gen 3), has more solid sway bars (17mm compared to 15mm I believe)... 15 inch mags... centre console has a "CD rack" sorta built in... I believe the 96 Tourer comes with Cruise Control too :) The Ultima and Grande I don't believe get the leather wheel and shifter, but they do end up with the leather seats?... power windows... In my opinion, the Tourer - more bang for ya buck. I've already got power windows in my 95 Tourer :P
  6. What's the temp read on the dash? Should be exactly half way. The 4 bangers sit just below half way...
  7. Intake resonator for a V6 - in front of the air filter - may need to remove the air filter and move the battery to get to it, as well as the fuses. I ended up getting some of that flex pipe from Super Cheap and running that from the airbox straight to the bottom of the fender.

  9. I'm seconding both BlindEyeSight and wishbone... I've upgraded my intake, but still left the resonator on (I'm takin that off real soon, lol). I replaced the snorkel intake and put that down to the front of the fender like what Russ was on about ^^ It doesn't make any difference to me, but I at least know it's cold fresh air (wasn't noticeable gain anyway). You'll have to watch out for water getting through though. I'll be buying a K&N air filter to replace my stocko POS soon enough... they set back around 100-150 bucks. Try not to void your warranty though... if you end up in a car accident, the assesor might not wanna give you insurance because they class K&N as a modification (I guess the flow of air is different), so you'd (obviously) take out the stocko air filter that you conveniently keep in your boot and swap it out

  11. Mate, I've done it a few times on my car (95 Touring) - Pull back seats down - Bolt for the side bits (dunno the name) - need a socket to take em off on both sides of the chairs. They slide upwards. - There's a couple of screws between the back seat and the boot part (the hole between the two) - unscrew them off. - Take off them side plastic bits that sit in the side of the boot in the hole thing... dunno how to describe it. - If you have one of them granny brake lights that sit on the parcel shelf, unclip the unit and unbolt the light straight off the parcel shelf. You should then be able to pull off the matting (grills for speakers included) You'll find that Toyota used a stupid 3 bolt bracket to hold their speakers in. I ended up using them same brackets and pop riveted them back onto the new speakers. Use some padding to cover up the parts when the speaker doesn't sit flush (padded tape works fine). Try and use the old clip-on harness that connects the speakers. Just makes it easy if you ever have to sell the car up and then connect the old harnesses back up sorta thing. Oh yeah... make sure you get some decent speakers to go in there - the last thing you'd wanna do is have to swap em out lol. I ended up having a warranty claim on that... man that was a saga and a half Mate, if you need anymore info, let us know.
  12. Normal champ... depending I used 98 Octane - after a week, it never did it again. Back to Unleaded now (coz of the stupid price in fuel) and back come the 2k rpm starts :)
  13. Man... that car looks bloody tops mate. When I was in Thailand last year (Both Bangkok and Phucket) we saw lots of Nice Gen 5 & Gen 6 Camrys gettin around... Oh yeah, Sawasdee Karp!! Sa bai dee ru karp?!? lol... Love the Corolla Taxis... never thought I'd see any colours like that in my life, lol. I belong to another Camry club, they'd love to see that thing mate!!
  14. I've always wondered if there was a carby 3SFE manual out... I coulda sworn that Haynes did one. Best thing about Haynes... they do ALL the engines for that Gen in the one book :) somtimes more :P I have the Gen 3 Haynes manual... covers the 5SFE, the 3VZFE and the 1MZFE. Not bad for 35 bucks :)
  15. 2nd what Wishbone's said... If you're after a proper paint job though, buy the front bumper from Ebay or a wrecker and then to a spray shop... shouldn't spend too much I'd imagine. I'd be moreso takin all the damaged stuff off (few screws and nuts here and there) and replacing with 2nd hand gear from a wrecker. That's gonna be by far, the cheapest way to do it. Another scenario... someone's got a POS Camry that they've driven to the ground, but same colour like yours... they sell em for like, 1-1.5k sometimes.

I believe I'll be in the running for some new sparkies... gonna get a couple of my Camry mates and a couple of beers and do it this weekend whilst on a Camcrew Cruise :P FYI - from a mechanic; Normal plugs... between 15-20k. Platinums... 80-100k. Irridiums... around the same as platinums, slightly better.
  19. I know a few who've bought the keys off ebay... they work fine. My grandparent's 01 Conquest has the transponder built into the key... looks like there's more than one. I tried the exact same sequence on their car to program a key, it worked fine.
  20. oh man i wish i was older...owellz...maybe in the future they will higher the minimum age to drive or even limit learners to driving 2Lt engine cars...ie yaris's or the echo's....lol Or 2.0L 3SGTE Camrys...

POS really) Gen 2 - 1987 - 1992 (The boxy shaped Camrys... sedan and wagon) Gen 3 - 1993 - Apr 1997 (The curvy widebody Camrys) Gen 4 - 1998 - 2001 (some in 2002) (The more straight, boxy backend Camrys) Gen 5 - 2002 - 2006 (The bigger lookin Cams... start of the Altise and Sportivo... Azura etc) Gen 6 - 2007 - Current (The new beasts... More sleek looking) I'd imagine you should get the key, with the remote built in.   22. On the Gen 4 Camrys, to program the key, I believe it's as simple as this: http://www.camcrew.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=1476 If you can't view the page, the steps are as follows... (1) Turn headlight switch off (2) Put the key in the ignition (3) Cycle the key from LOCK to ON three times (within 5 seconds), leaving it on. (4) The vehicle security indicator will illuminate continuously for 5 seconds. (5) Press the button on the remote control you want to program. (6) The turn signals will flash. (7) Turn the ignition back to LOCK. (8) DONE!!! Test the remote and you should be good to go. This is only for Gen 4 Camrys... wouldn't try it on any other, lol. * Information provided by Leasaunce from Camcrew - also a member here on TOCAU too :)
  23. You can just buy a Toyota key for your specific Gen... get it cut... and program it yaself?? Camcrew has a whole page on programming these bloody things :) Make chirps, lights flashin... all that stuff.
  24. Looks like your engine's playin silly buggers with ya. Sounds like it's faulty... no way can an engine get a fault, then come good again... only bloody PCs and PABX systems do that, lol.
  25. It's as simple as takin out that u shaped plastic bracket (the piece that has the ciggy lighter in it). Use a flat head screw driver and get that off, then there's 4 screws that hold the HU in mate. Get a small socket onto it and there ya go. The wiring diagram is straight forward... I didn't actually cut my wiring, I ended up getting some small flat prongs that you can solder the end of the cable onto, and then push the prong into the stock wiring harness (WOW Sight n Sound do it)... I ended up following their idea. (The prong - 3mm wide... 10mm long... flat piece.) Ya can get em for Jaycar. Once ya wired these things onto the new HU, just plug em into the original harness and some electric tape around it... no sound quality problems... connection problems are the exact same, if not better.
