  1. I reckon I've seen a good 5 or 6 TRD Aurions on the road here in Caloundra/Kawana. The Currimundi Toyota dealer has the contract to sell the TRD stuff... I see em everyday when I drive past :P I got to sit in one... but never got to drive it :( And I like the fact that they have their own individual serial number, lol.. TRD mesh grill... seats feel great... all the leather... you'd almost start droolin :P lol. And I've seen some nice Aurion cop cars gettin around here... the business that I work for does a lot of work with the Toyota dealerships here on the Sunshine Coast. He got word from the guys down South that there's like 200 of these things being rolled out around Eastern Australia?? Nice...
  2. Camrys have not really been in our family... we had a 86 Corolla... 88 Corona... Corolla was great, but the Corona was a POS. My grandparents always had Camrys or Corollas... they had a nice Gen 3 Vienta... a 3.5 actually. I was told by my grandparents that the 4 cylinder engine was one of the most sophisticated engines in the world... and that it's reputation was fantastic. My grandparents moved down here (from Darwin) with it... we moved down a year later... as I was 16 they were planning on selling it... I woulda bought it, but didn't have the money. Since then... I've always had it in the back of my head that these were the best cars to get... purely the style, the reliability... the value... cheap costs on repair... all of that... I have owned a 1994 CSi... and I now own a 95 Touring Series... with various cosmetic mods (I got the mod bug lol). The rear tail lights look great with the boot centrepiece though!! lol...
  3. The stock suspension can feel like driving on a pillow... but the lower profile tyres... you'll start feeling bumps :P Did you know... the recommended amount of time between replacing shocks is every 40k?? The exact same amount of time as your tyres... I was quite suprised when I heard that! lol
  4. Why you wanna put a 1MZ in the car for?? I'd much prefer the stronger 3VZ engine (does weigh more, but that's what you get for a cast iron block) compared to the 1MZ's alloy block. If you're planning on swapping, you'd need to change the engine and wiring loom for sure... ECU... whatever else normally.
  5. The engines do run a tad hot... that's just normal mate. My temp gauge sits halfway between cold and hot :P
  6. Hey mate, I wouldn't touch the 4 banger there... oil leaks are a no no... could also be burning oil too for all you know... you'd find out down the track that the piston rings would need re-doing or sumfin insane. You're best off looking for another 500 bucks, a better working Camry will a proper service history. If you come across a Camry with proper servicing (every 5-10k), then there shouldn't be any issues, regardless on engine type. I have had both the 4 banger and the 3VZ V6 and never had an issue with any. Check the engine mounts first though... they seem to go after 10-12 years.
  7. Is nice... Did you think about maybe lookin at the Aurion Touring Series??
  8. normally you'd pay that for a normal Gen 4 without a kit and any of the goodies mate. If the car's still available, try and snatch it up quickly bro :)
  9. My 3VZ is around 10-11 normal suburban driving... around 8-9ish on the open road :) Much the same engine... it really comes down to how much you flog the car around mate :P...
  10. Mate, if you can source a GTP Gen 4 Camry... in General, you're doin fine. Only has 150k on the clock (around average) and looked after really well. Check the aircon's all good... power steering, engine mounts... (they tend to go after 8-10 years)... the other parts that are common are merely cosmetic stuff (power windows, ceiling cloth sagging... door trims coming out etc). Check that the water pump was done also... I reckon if I were in your shoes, I woulda bought that in a heart beat. Them GTP kits are rare as hen's teeth mate, and people pay lots of money for em. You're buying a Camry mate... not much goes wrong with these cars :) Unlike Holdens or Fords... Hyundais or anything like that. If you service it regularly (5-10k) you'll have that car way into the 300-400-500k mark no problem.
  11. Dude... you spelling like that on purpose? Don't worry... The rims... 5 x 114.3, offset is between +38 to +45. +40's recommended. Once you start goin over 18s... you'll need to start rolling guards mate.
  12. I guess it depends on how many kms the lil beast has done. I run 10w-40 Castrol Magnatec but being she's near 20 years old, the 20w 50 might be a bit of a goer. Might help getting an additive put in to help with the age of the engine (some of the Nulon and Wynn's stuff is good... can coat the engine and can sorta still run it for a lil while without oil from what a mate has done - not recommded though lol)
  13. Mate... I have the same problem... but my grommets should be fine. I replaced my tail lights for the US Red/Clears instead of the ugly orannge/reds... My spare tyre well, car jack well and the other side (nothing in it) were all filled up with old water... musta been there for freakin yonks. Probably just need seals replacing in the boot maybe... dunno.
  14. I did a whole DIY on how to clean out the IAC valve on Camcrew... on the 3VZ engine, it's as simple as spraying the IAC valve (lots of TB cleaner... Nulon would do). I ended up usin 1/4 of a can just in the IAC valve. Cleaned the butterfly clip in the intake... scrubbed with TB cleaner and a toothbrush... didn't mow it down or anything. Turned the car over a few times... started after the 2nd time. Lots of smoke for about 20 secs... never had an idle issue since.
  15. You're lucky... Celection lives in WA... lol... Contact him on the Camcrew website also if you don't hear from him on TOCAU.
  16. Yeah that's fair enough... I replaced the whole set on my last 5SFE engine around a year ago... costed around 600 fitted?? Can't remember... bought some parts from Autobarn, some from Supercheap Auto (same company they buy from... lol) Autobarn doesn't charge freight, but might cost a few bucks more, and Supercheap are cheaper, but charge freight. However, Supercheap will only charge freight per order, so might pay to get the whole lot in the one go. My 2c
  17. No one's replaced the whole exhaust or anything with something a tad different?? Aircon can make a heck of a noise... most likely the clutches opening and stuff too slowly or sumfin. Had the same problem with mine... not worth repairing (costed like 700 bucks and didn't work for long lol)
  18. I'd be gettin that looked at ASAP... like, within a couple of days... Check you got all the oils and fuilds too... (even though they have their own lights). an auto electician with an OBDII Diagnostic reader should be able to help you out... most mechanics shouldn't charge you just to connect it up (they're rippin ya big time if they do).
  19. No worries mate... we're all here to help. I reckon that if it's gonna be any of the mounts, it'll be the front, and the top... but if left for too long, the other mounts take a bit of a beating, and will end up needing replacement at the end anyway. From what I've heard, mounts normally need replacing after like, 10 years anyway.
  20. Well... you got the 4 banger... it sounds like the front mount has had it... had a similar problem also... more of a clunk noise when it changed gears (car sorta moves a tad when it changes gears). The dogbone style mount's gone too... don't bother replacing that until you ask a mechanic on which mounts have had it. I ended up replacing all the mounts (there's a front, rear, transmission and the top dogbone mount) I bought em all through Supercheap and Autobarn (Supercheap charges freight, Autobarn doesn't, so see how ya go). I think I ended up spendin close to 600 to buy them all and get replaced by a mechanic. You can get the part numbers of Thu (96Camry) at Camcrew if you need any further info anyway... that's where I got my info from :)
  21. Mate, answered your own question :P
  22. Nice buy mate... what's the going rate on a Grande anyway? I woulda been more interested in the Aurion Touring Series... :)
  23. Mate, when my car craps itself (touch wood), I'm gonna come see you :) Coil huh? Nice...
  24. Mate, I woulda thought that Audis and Vee dubs would be harder to fix... so a Toyota should be ***** easy mate. Sounds great mate... I'll pass it onto the rest of the Gen 6 owners in another Camry Club i'm in, lol... I'm sure they have an issue, but prob won't say anything about it
  25. There IS a power source or some kind of wiring loom that connects to the dizzy...? I've never had to look that far to be honest! Looks like you've spent a lot on replacing things... might be worth getting a mobile mech to have a quick glance and see what he can find... shouldn't cost you too much I'd imagine!
