    2012 Camry

Toyota have had a brain explosion with this one. I can see second hand 50 series Camrys on the market with massive indentations in the rear headrests from child restraint straps, lol. Looking at the photos in the press release for the 50 series Aurion, it's utilising adjustable rear headrests. I wonder why they just didn't do the same for the Camry. Oh, hang on... cost-cutting strikes again! :)
  2. Press release for 50 series Aurion here (including press kit).
  3. OP, to check your mic, with the unit powered on, hold Info/Tel down, turn your parkers on/off 3 times, and you'll see a service menu pop up. Go to function/test then mic level, press record and speak, watch the level on screen. Press play to see how loud it is. By memory, you can adjust the sensitivity of the mic as well elsewhere in those service menus. Also, what phone are you using? Have you updated the software of the phone recently? This may have an effect. Also, try pairing another phone and test.
  4. Good stuff! That was back when Toyota first introduced the "ratebreaker" rates. There was no negotiation required, that's what the consumer rate was written at. It did eventually jump to 2.06% to cover the change in NCCP rules/est fee reduction back in July last year, and then when they started doing the 3.9 towards the end of last year, consumer was written at 3.05%. Oh gawd, I'm a slack@rse. I never bothered to post the pic of the boot that was requested earlier. Oh well, 16 months on... :) Looking forward to updating to the AVV50R Hybrid Camry when they get released next year.
  5. US models, yes. No for Australian models, the option is not available in the customisation menu on IT/OTC.
  6. Should just be key on/off 3 times, and the security light should remain illuminated. Press each remote button, confirmation of learn will be flash of indicators and horn pip.
  7. I tried some Camry Sportivo/Grande 17s a little while back (see here), but for the time being I'm still running the original 16s. I was looking at fitting bigger wheels down the track after the original 16s had worn out, but with 23K on the clock now, the Dunlops still have plenty of tread left on them. Plus, we may look at upgrading to a 50 series Hybrid Camry when they come out next year...
  8. Hey mate, good to see a fellow Whirlpoolian on TOC. Our Hybrid Camry turns one year old this month, and we've clocked around 21K. Yeah step and glide is definitely the way to drive them. Best we've done is 5.2l/100km, currently we average low 6s. Unfortunately some of that fuel usage is the result of living on a mountain with a very steep grade climb, which doesn't bother the HC performance-wise.

    Sunroof

Why not just sell your Camry and buy one with a factory roof. Aftermarket usually means trouble down the track, I've seen some dodgy installs over the years.
  10. Was looking to fit a genuine AUX/USB jack in place of the AUX jack inside the console box below the climate control unit in the Hybrid Camry. Part number 86190 60040 Images nicked from Tacomaworld. However, this baby is over $200 retail! :o So, plan B. Found these little beauties over in the US (for $6 USD a pop); L-Com USB A-B connector Which will be simply added inside the console box above the AUX jack. Then all I'll need is a USB printer cable to run from the VAISTech VML to this new USB jack. I'll post some pics of the install when it happens.
  11. Ah, good to see another fellow WP'ian here, there's quite a few of them! :D Enjoy your new HC!
  12. The Toyota dealer you mean? The dealer has it right in front of their face what is involved in the service. Unless you've spoken to a bimbo service reception chick, I suggest you try another dealer. 60K includes oil/ filter, brake fluid, rotate/balance. They were trying to flog you an extended warranty instead of telling you what a 60K service includes? Definitely try another dealer.
  13. Sorry for hijacking this thread. Daryl, if you don't mind me asking, which eBay seller are you buying the kits from? And if I'm correct, your Aurion would use H11s?
  14. Not at all. Going from a 215/60R16 to a 215/55R17 is a "bee's richard" difference in circumference, so no effect on VDIM or hybrid side of things. The rims are roughly about the same weight. Toyota haven't made any options available for wheels/tyres, as they're focusing on the best economy and quietness for the car. Surprisingly, the stock 16" Dunlops are very quiet. The 17s that I trialled had Michelins on them, and tyre noise was ever so slightly increased. But handling was improved, and the 17" wheels just look a lot better than the stocko 16s. Don't forget that Toyota do 15s and 17s for the Prius now, the latter being louder for tyre noise and slight effect on fuel economy.
  15. Trial fit of OEM Grande/Sportivo/Touring 17" 5 spokes, thoughts everyone? Sorry about crap photos, all done with camera phone. :(
  16. One VAISTech VML box received and ready to install. Just waiting for a proper AUX/USB jack like the ones used in updated spec LC200 and NG 150 series Prado. This will replace the existing AUX jack inside the retractable cover box under the climate control.
  17. Copied from the Camry section, as I have extra detail to post now; Well boys and girls, after a 3 year stint in a VW (terrific MkV Golf GTI), we've decided to make a return to Toyota, after having a lovely little ZZE122R Ultima hatch prior to the Golf. The wife picked up our new Hybrid Camry recently. Base with factory navigation and grege (two tone) interior. Only accessories fitted are colour matched mats and a rear spoiler, which I fitted up last weekend. Down the track it'll get HIDs, a VAIS Tech VML USB/HDD module for the factory audio, and Touring/Sportivo 17s. The car is a brilliant drive, IMO much better than a petrol only Camry. The guys at Altona have done an awesome job with the R&D on this car. There's so much sound deadening in the car, everywhere you look. It's incredibly quiet. And underneath it looks like an F1 car with a lot of aerodynamic covers. The suspension feels like a Sportivo, very firm but maybe a little softer, but still very solid and rigid. Coming from a Golf GTI, I wasn't expecting blistering performance from the Hybrid. However, it does go surprisingly well for a fuel efficient car. The official 0-100 km/h time seems conservative (8.9 seconds). It definitely feels like it has similar acceleration to an Aurion. Don't believe me, have a look on YT at some of the 0-60mph vids of US Hybrid Camrys, you'll be surprised. Best thing about this car, we got it on finance with Toyota at 1.49%! They are advertising 2.9% on TV atm, but that's business. Consumer gets 1.49%! So overall, very happy with the car. Pics of car after it first arrived at the dealership off the truck.
  18. Welcome to the forums. Toyota Australia do not make available any 'genuine' iPod integration kit for any Toyota, other than the simple kit that plugs in the lighter socket, plugs into the bottom of the iPod and plugs into the AUX jack (obviously audio only). So whatever you've had fitted is aftermarket. Is the connection USB or iPod? I'm about to fit a VAISTech MultimediaLinq VML to the wife's Hybrid Camry. That way she can plug in a USB stick or her iPhone to listen to tunes. And it shows everything on the display as required. The "Folder List" virtual button does grey out when the vehicle is in motion (when playing MP3 CDs), so I don't know yet whether the VML box will stop that from happening. The VML box also kills off the "I Agree" on the satnav screen when first starting too.
  19. Welcome! Yes, they are the same doors. However, if you fit Aurion mirrors, what are you going to do with the holes in the guards where the repeater lenses are located? Yes, we don't have amber front park lights like you guys do. Our park lights are straight forward white. I guess you could fit Australian spec headlamp assemblies. Bare in mind though, that RHD headlamps are going to be configured differently to LHD ones. Ours are designed to light up the LH shoulder of the road, whereas yours will be designed to light up the RH shoulder.
  20. ^ +1 to the above. Definitely not overpriced, considering the amount of kit that comes standard.
  21. Thanks everyone. Yeah I think we're gonna very happy with this car for years to come! Will do on the w/end. The HV battery mainly takes up the space between the wheel arches, so it doesn't eat too much into the boot area.
  22. The OP is talking about smart keys here, not conventional keys. OP, unfortunately Toyota charge like a wounded bull for smart keys, and there isn't much you can do about it. The smart fob itself is about $360, the mechanical key that slides into the fob is $220! :o That's retail list. Then the mechanical key needs to be cut by a locksmith, and lastly, an IT Tester is required to configure the immobiliser ECU to learn the new fob. So $680 sounds pretty close to full tilt. Ask if they can do a bit of a better price? LC200 only come with 2 smart keys from the factory. Where did the 3rd one come from? Did you buy the vehicle 2nd hand with 3 fobs?

    New Camry

Manuals are as rare as rocking horse poo. Are you really sure you want to step back from the Aurion? To answer your question, I've driven an ACV40R manual once, wasn't much different from driving an auto performance-wise. On the other hand, my wife's new Hybrid Camry would easily blow either of them away! :)
  25. Yes you can use a reverse camera with that head unit. That's dirt cheap btw!
