  1. He mentioned that he is not after just any standard switch. He wants one with the correct fascia plate to fit into the accessory blanks to the lower right hand side of the steering wheel
  2. Looking good. I love how the lighting effect has given it a carbon black look. As for the intake changes, don't you have an SRI in progress?
  3. Wow, this Ghost Riding thing is still going eh? Well how about some chicks doing it for a change: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! And why Ghost Ride at slow speed, when you can pop on some skates and do it at a higher speed. These guys always do the craziest stuff: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!
  4. Such a shame cause that was one month ago and the front bumper was in perfect condition with only like one or two specks from stone chips. Now it's like covered in them. Stupid road works. All the limited Sportivo colours were quite nice. Shame Toyota only put a thin coat of paint on.
  5. Wow, I only just had a look at the page here and OMG SB! You're Rolla looks cleaner than what it would look like straight off the production line. That's some serious commitment there to be able to get the underside that clean. Since everyone is throwing in all kinds of photos, heres some of mine. They are all before I started doing things to it, so it keeps it's pure Toyota looks:
  6. Hey there. Welcome to the club. There are certainly a lot of helpful people around here so don't hesitate to ask.
  7. You can't simply buy a TRD supercharger kit for the Aurion. If you really want to get the supercharger and all the required accessories to make it run, you can try ringing your nearest Toyota spare parts department. You probably won't get too far though. For the supercharger alone, you'd probably be looking at more than $10,000, and that's even if you could buy it. I guess there is no harm in asking them.
  8. You're not completely wrong, just thinking of the wrong components. Actually, when you consider how a car is built, there is a fair bit of assembly done by hand so I guess you can say they are kinda hand built Back on topic though, the TRD's were modified by hand, but it goes something like this. They started their life in the Toyota Plant based on either an SX6 or ZR6 platform, and came out with the interior and exterior trim of a TRD Aurion minus the TRD engine modifications. They were then sent to Prodrive who where responsible for modifying the engine to make it the full TRD Aurion. I'm not good with detailed physics but in general, torque steer has to do with the unequal length of the drive shaft. With a FWD (depending on the configuration), power is put down to the drive shaft at an offset. This means that from this point, the length of shaft to each side is different. Because of this, one side of the shaft experiences more torque than the other, and this difference creates torque steer. It varies from car to car depending on the engine torque, the length of varying drive shaft, and other drive train geometry. This picture will help you visualise it on the Aurion. Just to get the perspective right, this is looking at it from the front, so RH is the drivers side: Because the shaft towards the right wheel is longer, it has the ability to twist more than the shorter shaft on the passenger side. Because the shaft on the passenger side does not twist as much, it will initially start to turn the left wheel slightly faster than the right (because some energy is wasted in the process of twisting the shaft to the right). Because of this, the extra forward movement in the left wheel will steer the car towards the right. LOL. I wish I knew a lot. I don't think I know that much. Just knowledge that is readily available to others, just depends on how you can visualise it. Some things make sense to others, some things don't. Plus a lot of the things I know were just learnt from others. I'm good at remembering stuff that won't really be of use to me, but I'll forget all the important stuff.
  9. Because the TRD was based off the Sportivo (3500S based on the SX6, and 3500SL based on the ZR6), they are likely to inherit any issues that the corresponding Sportivo's had. Like most of the Aurions, it's mainly a hit and miss as to which issue that you get. You mean pull to the right :P. Unless of course you like to feel the power in reverse as well
  10. I usaully flash my hazard lights or brakes lights to tell them to backoff...If they don't I then slow down to increase my following distance from the car in front of me (if theres one) so if he stops I've gotmore time to stop slower and hopefully avoid the **** behind ending up in my boot!! Depending on how much they are annoying me, there are a few different things I do. Either I press my brake pedal just enough to get the brake light to come on while I accelerate forward. Usually this increases the distance between us pretty quick since I accelerate forward and they brake. Then if they continue to tail me again, I do the same but once I get a little bit forward, I actually apply the brakes and slow down a bit. They usually come accelerating towards me thinking I'm just doing what I did before. This usually gets them as they have to hit their brakes quick. Gotta make sure you can accelerate out of this situation though. By that time they usually get the point or are that annoyed that they move to the other lane or something. After that I just put my car into 3rd or 4th depending on the speed we're going at and I travel at the speed limit (high revs), then every so often I just let go of the accelerator so I get a fair bit of engine braking and this usually annoys them as well cause I'm slowing down all of a sudden without brake lights coming on. I'll usually combine this one with my windscreen washers to add to the annoyance. Yup, these don't really solve the problem, but if you tail me, I'm going to annoy you in return.
  11. Serious? Try looking at the first photo.
  12. The way your car sits normally (if only it could be like the last couple) looks hawt. Sorry Rowan, but elgrande takes the cake for filling the rear guards.
  13. These days, there is no requirement to 'run-in' an engine when you buy a new car. Most people suggest to take it easy for the first 1000km as a general guideline, but if you were to ask me, I'd say to give it a good workout. It all depends on what you believe in. An interesting read as well: How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power To quote Hiro Protagonist as well (who knows quite a bit about cars):
  14. Especially if you get the Legnum, with the twin-turbo V6..... Ask Daryl about those :P And to quote him again (shown in my signature): I guess it was either a combination of soft driving or that car couldn't handle the best cause he was quite a distance behind.
  15. If Rowan doesn't mind me stepping in, his tires are Nankang 245/30R20.
  16. You can get universal airbag kits from suppliers such as Air Ride Suspension from around $2,395. These kits would require a bit of custom work to make them fit however. Otherwise you can import a kit over from the States, such as an Air Runner kit which is a complete swap over, but these kits cost USD$4,293 plus however much it would be to import it. Legality wise for those in Queensland: http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/resources/...difications.pdf As for other states, if no one has got any info, you may need to ring around and do some research. Apparently in NSW they have the ability to be mod-plate approved.
  17. Happy Birthday Bren. You're always full of stories to tell and great advice. While I'm at it, I should say thanks for my Happy Birthday greeting last year. At the time I was new with the boards and didn't notice this thread going.
  18. Nice and tidy. I really love that colour. Those rims look pretty clean and sharp as well.
  19. No direct experience with the Aurion myself, by I have heard from others and from working on previous cars myself, that changing the stock speakers over and keeping the standard head unit will make a really big difference. If you've seen the stock speakers on the Aurion, you will no doubt understand why aftermarket will sound much better. Unless of course you have a car with a very good sound system from the factory (ie. BOSE or Rockford Fosgate), keeping the stock system with aftermarket speakers may be all you need.
  20. Damn. Good to see someone over here doing some work on the Gen 6 Camry. All the rage over in the States... not so much over here. Love the plates as well. Was also going to say the S14 looks quite nice, but we all know my focus wasn't there.
  21. Makes sense because non of them have a 'sports' look to them anyways.
  22. Rock on! She got those to you pretty quick eh.

    Lexus ES300

LOL, once again another sketra thread going the wrong way (happens so much, now it seems right). Mind you, I did laugh with you comment spillige. I was already laughing well before reading your comment. I clicked the link and it brought me to the latest post, then I scrolled up, saw the Lexus and though okay... then saw who posted it and that's when the laughing began. This shall be entertaining to watch.
  24. Are you referring to the 07 Camry that you have? If so, they already are LED. All you can do is change the physical LED's themselves to a different colour.
  25. All carry on. They were satisfied with doing the swab check though. Just funny watching the x-ray cause they took a good minute to analyse it all. Stupid security concerns. I've lost so many mini screwdrivers that I keep forgetting are in that laptop bag of mine. But yeah, I'll pick it up from you whenever you want. Closer to the date.
