  1. Lookin good for me and White Bandit to attend... Please be aware a hangover could be on the cards as I have farewell drinks the night before, so please talk quietly Attendees: micky_tee Tayles Simo mick0082
  2. Definately a sweet project! Love the car, the colour, the engine choice and the wheels. Havent seen too many good looking Spyders but this is definately one of them. A very well thought out project! My question is: How does the Auto box cope with the 2ZZ spinning it to 8 grand? How quick is it? Is it quicker than the turboed Red MR2 in the back ground? Oh.... is it for sale?
  3. Mighty tempting Jimmy! Sounds like an event worthy of bolting on the stockers. 18's would be a definate disadvantage for me. Then again, so would the stock Turanza's <_<
  4. My Rolla runs happily on 18's and almost stock suspension. Just the addition of some King lows sets it apart from factory standard. She's not as low as i'd like her. But a happy medium for everyday use. Its not slammed, but far from a monster truck....
  5. 07 ZZE122 you say? Hmmmm..... well 18x7.5 fit for sure but not sure what size tyres your going to need to stick to rolling circumference. You can find a handy tyre calculator here I keep contemplating sneaking on a set of 19's but would have to find a 19x7.5 (rare) and put on 225/35/19 (also rare). Then i'd have no choice but to put it on superlows or ever a set of coilovers. See how one mod can lead to the necessity of other mods!?
  6. Thanks for the words of mention man. Your right about the term "rental hack" though. That may be a little unfair though as i'm comparing it too harshly against a top of the range hatch when its really an entry level commuter. But I must say for a VE Omega, the package is fairly impressive. Just left me missing my comfy seats, lower ride height and ever so slightly "non-standard" audio system ;) But hey, I got the luxury of cruise control so it can't be all that bad
  7. Unfortunately I don't have 70k+ Rob :(
  8. Can confirm! I read this same article only yesterday. Just a shame it misses out on AWD. Keep in mind though, if it did come out in Oz with a 32k price tag, i think it would do pretty dam well against the 3 MPS, XR5, Golf GTi brigade. It would win hand's down from a 'bang for buck' point of view. Provided of course they figure out how to get all that power to the ground and are sure to include a nice list of standard features for such a car. Eg: seats, brakes, wheels, ride height, perhaps even some interior carbon highlights etc.
  9. Agreed! Double clutch it with abit of a blip of the throttle and she'll be sweet. Alot kinder on your more expensive drivetrain parts.
  10. Your in on the detailing then Jimmy! Well your right about the second car. I did say Statesman. The gangsta look is commonly represented these days by the Chrysler 300C, but being an American car, they're finished off quite poorly. So I thought to myself, what else would achieve a similar image. Looked around for quite a while and come to the conclusion that a WK Satesman would fit the bill nicely. Anything built from Jan-Sep 06 with the V8 box ticked has a 6.0L GenIV instead of the Rev happy GenIII. So the plan may be to grab one of those, and make most of the mod's Jimmy has listed. Would look pimpin' Alternatively, I've got my eye on something Jap that is to be released shortly. Smaller, quicker and very unique looking. Watch this space. Hill climb you all say? Unfortunately I'm going to have to decline, getting myself organised still.
  11. Jimmy! Yeah man finally got my own place and yes double garage. You must have read my mind because a second car may be on the cards. Not right away but perhaps early next year. Two options: something sporty, or something a little more gangsta..... watch this space! Uni hey? thats the trend, study, party, study, party etc etc etc. Group detailing definately sounds deluxe! i need to do the whole car, its been quite neglected lately. Interior is the main area I need to focus on! once the nights are abit warmer I have to do a deep paint clean and follow with a polish. Yeah lets do that!
  12. Yeah man been flat stick. Was working in Sydney for a couple of weeks a few weeks back. Finally got my house sorted and moved in over the weekend. Left work?! As in.... resigned? Not good to hear if thats the case dude. Great to hear about the intake though, knew you guys would get it sorted. Yes, the cruising weather is beginning....
  13. Gentlemen! Yes i'm still alive. Its been a busy couple of months and have been meaning to get back here to post up but it just hasn't happened. Just thought I'd check in and see how you are all goin. You know this 20 degree plus weather has got me rather anxious to shine up old white bandit and cruise. So hows everyone been?
  14. Ha! What a call. On a totally unrelated topic..... Does anyone know where I can get a heavy duty bull bar to fit an 05 Facelift Sportivo? And preferrably matching 3m UHF aerials? Oh, and some Kenworth mudflaps would be splendid! Group buy guys?
  15. He ordered without me.... you b@stard!
  16. If your going to slam it then yeah, go for the 215/40/18. From memory though that is even rarer than the 225/35/18's Plus you have to meet a load rating so your tyre search could be drawn out and costly. Like I said, i'm on 225/35/18. Full locking is rare for me and only done at slow speeds if at all. I don't like to stress the steering rack by going to the extremes so rubbing isn't too much of a problem. I'm looking for a new set of 225/35/18 at the moment and there's nothing decent under the $220-$250 mark.
  17. Facelift headlights have more of a tear drop. The front that the shown headlights fit come from some other market outside of Oz. I think that front was around when we had Pre-facelift and possibly after. Not entirely sure, as i'm not much of a Corolla historian when it comes to rollas in other markets. If anyone finds projectors w/ angel eyes to fit the facelift model, I'd be keenly interested!
  18. Saw Sheldon on Sunday night cruising Dickson. Looking low with his new springs too! The car is looking finished now. Nice work Sheldon...
  19. Ahhhh..... Sinsations! Was meant to go there Saturday night just gone but was so drunk I got carried out of Civic at 2am. The next morning I looked for the stamp of happiness on my arm, but it was nowhere to be found :( Anyhow..... back on topic..... ;)
  20. Jaze, a 215/40/17 may look a little narrow on a 7.5inch rim. Maybe go for a 225 if you can find any in the correct profile. The best way to find a correct tyre size is to use a tyre/wheel index (that any reputable tyre place will refer to). Or use this handy tyre calculator that i've been using for a couple years now. Online Tyre Calculator Enter your original tyre dimensions into the first field, then enter your new estimated dimensions to find the closest match for overall rolling diameter (circumference).
  21. No probs man. Credit given where credit is due. Spotted another couple of rides yesterday (14/06/2007). First Barry Drive/Northbourne ave intersection yesterday morning. Spotted a black pre-facelift Rolla crossing the intersection and heading towards Braddon Macca's Had rims and exhaust, pretty sure it had ACT personalised plates. Not sure if it was a Sportivo or not. Second Flemington Rd, approx 6pm. White pre-facelift heading back in towards Mitchell (possibly to Sinsations) ACT plates "JT-XXX" and looked to have white rims. Not sure if this was Jimmy...... wouldn't expect to see him in my neck of the woods. Didn't see it for long enough to see if it was Jimmy's custom front bar as I was just coming off lift, braking behind some slow traffic.
  22. Very handy to have a local supplier. Quite interested in the TRD front swaybar.
