  1. Spotted on Ginninderra Drive Belconnen, ACT. This evening around 7pm. White 05 (Facelift) Sportivo, dressed up in full Domino's graphics. Thats right, a 2ZZ pizza hatch. .....I guess they'e making sure those pizzas get there while they're still hot! :P
  2. I've found from past experiences that the whining noise is the Syncro's. However the tapping or rattling you've described was apparent in my car too. And it would stop when ever the clutch was fully disengaged (pedal down). It also disappears once the car is going faster than walking pace. Brought this to the attention of the Toyota crew who put it down to the gear box being a little more heavy duty and 'helical" than the stock 5-Speed. I don't totally buy this explanation, but what you going to make them do?
  3. That was a typo on my behalf guys.... Its a 0W/40 not a 10W/40. Which on paper suggests that its thinner than the 5W/30 but in reality doesn't seem to be. So far it feels better in the hot conditions and feels more linear in lift. As for cold starts it seems the same. Mine still runs like a dog until its built up oil pressure. From day one it always refused to move without putting on a drama within the first couple of minutes. Not sure if this is a characteristic of the engine, or the way mine has run in. Either way, it gets idled for about 5 mins before it moves anywhere anyways....
  4. Hi everyone, A long time away from the forums for me! My Xmas availibility doesn't look that good. I finish work next Friday 22nd December and leave town that afternoon. Heading back to my folks place. Back in Canberra on Thursday 28th December and fly out to Brisbane the next day (Fri 29th) for some New Years partying! I get back in on Tues 2nd Jan and back at work on the 3rd. Sorry guys, looks like i'm out. In response to Jimmy's thread.... Yes I used to run the 5W/30 Formula R and tried the updated Edge version of the same viscosity. I've now dropped that as my engine was way too chattery in the top end for my liking especially around idle. I'm still running Edge, but moved up to the 10W/40 version. Its $20-$30 more expensive per 5L, but when your changing your oil every 5000km's, I expect to be pouring some $$$ into it anyways. Upon consulting Castrols online lube guide, seems they have updated their database when Edge arrived to reflect the same. 5W/30 no longer recommended for the 2ZZ's.
  5. Also awaiting pics! I have some ok ones from my fone. It claims to be 2 megapixel but it really doesnt look like it. Nokia rip off merchants From memory, Dom has a photobucket account. Heaps easy to get them there especially when they are high res! There were a fair few so perhaps we should give him a few days to get them sorted.
  6. What the? Yeah ill be there guys. Hopefully we get a better day than last Sunday when it quite literally rained mud If we get another day like that, someone please come pick me up :P My car looked like a chocolate covered marshmallow after that. See you all Sunday....and yes Jimmy, bring your dancing shoes if you like.
  7. I'm running a SuperCat rear box. Inlet suits the stock Sportivo piping (2 1/4" i think) and has a 4" rear tip. Good thing about this particular box is that it maintains the stock diameter all the way through with only the tip changing and that helps to maintain good back pressure. I have no idea what the part number is though, sorry. I just saw it in the exhaust shop and liked it. (after playing round with other rear mufflers). Sounds great from the outside at all engine speeds. Low and mean when pulling away from a standstill and the same on down shifts. North of 6 grand its a different story, it becomes more of a high pitched snarl with a little bit of rasp. Ask the other members of the Canberra crew how it sounds.
  8. OK i'm in too...how can this be done? Here's how i'd want it. White numbers all the time with green lines (to match climate control) then change to red when in lift! So how do we go about this?
  9. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow..... But someday!
  10. Not saying anyones wrong here and its definately a case of each and everyone to their own but consider: Single turbo R34 in good condition: 20-25k Throw 8k at it in mods..... let your imagination do the rest. By the same token... MY00, 01, 02 WRX: 15-25k 8k in mods..... Thats not to say that I don't admire what you guys are doing..... please don't make me out to be a kill joy.
  11. They are a strange size...17x7.5 (banGn runs this), but I'm inclinded to ask for 17x7 if possible. I'll be asking Brian again what he has in terms of profile, I think it's 215/45 which is perfect for 17x7.5 I think A 7.5" wheel should wear a 225 tyre running a lower profile to achieve the same rolling circumference. 225's have never scraped for me with a 35mm drop even with 3 in the back so not sure what everyone is on about. I'm on the same rolling circumference as stock. Without running the numbers or checking availibility of tyresregarding a 17 though, not completely sure. Please jump in and correct me if I'm wrong. Yeah brian was aware of the correct rolling diameter, he found the 215/45's were a better fit though. 225/35/R18 won't scrape on a 35mm drop. Nor with a 50mm drop. However, when you're getting into territory that banGn is in (and I'll be heading in once the fecking coilovers are in) you'd be looking @ 65mm drop for us. 225's would rub all over the place man, unless you paid money to box the guard liner and custom roll the guards @ that height. Plus your offset comes into play too. Fair enough.... Although I'd prob perefer to spend my money upgrading to a WRX, EVO or R34 if I was building something track worthy.... But thats just me.

  15. "White facelifts..........when you know you have real taste" ;)
  16. Yuk! I hate those ENJO things. I tried one of those on my last car (metallic blue) and swirled the paint bad! And that was with the hose running on it all the way through the wash and rinsing the mit regularly. Was not happy
  17. I do wax (the car) Rob! I just refuse to rub the car down with anything unless its been properly washed with suds! Don't really like the idea of soapless or waterless car washing, call me old fashioned....
  18. All good man, you can't help being sick. We spent the evening either cruising around or eating junk. I convinced the guys we needed to go to Krispy Kreme so in the end I got the sugar fix I needed. Big thanks to Mickey Tee from myself and Richo for selecting a rainy night to meet. Our freshly detailed cars are now filthy.
  19. Too bad man.... Got that lower front bumper lip fixed yet?
  20. I'll be there....i'm leaving my badgers at home though :P
  21. ***Mick takes Official Canberra post and shocks it with one of those zappy machines from ER to try and revive it*** Breathe d@mmit, breathe! Where is everyone? Hang on...the post above from Jimmy was at the start of the World cup...and today is the end of the world cup, so I guess we were all watching football. I WAS! Viva La Sposi, AZZURRI! Italia, Fifa 2006 World Champions!
  22. So are there any further developments with this? I'm free anytime after July!
  23. Just stumbled over this thread..... Sounds like a plan! Good work Jimmy! Lets set a date so we can all get organised. Lets get the Canberra numbers back up!
