  1. With your gear shifts, give it another 100km or so to give yourself a chance to get used to the car. If this persists i'd take it straight back. Also, a question for you Colmen. What colour is your Sportivo, and what is the build date? I'm just curious as to how many Sportivo's are left, they would have to be running out soon.
  2. Spotted approx 4 or 5 pm Sun 19/2. White facelift Sportivo on Victoria St Darlinghurst. Stocker wearing premium NSW plates: DAN-!@#
  3. This is kinda off topic but where is your dealer plucking a new sportivo from? You say you have 6-8 weeks or so left to wait. Where are they going to get one from by then? Did they decide to bring in one more batch or something???
  4. In some of the different Corolla colours, the touch up paint supplied is dodgy as. I got some paint mixed up from scratch which is a much closer match. Its quite thick in the tin so i just pour out an extremely small quantity and use a little thinners to thin it down. Its easier to work with this way. Then touch up the chip with a fine tipped brush, you'll notice that the new paint isn't as thick. Leave to dry overnight and then re-apply to fill in the chip some more, apply extra as necessary, until thickness is the same. Any paint you have gotten ontop of your clear should be able to be removed with a paint cleaner, I use Meguiars. Its not a effective as having your bonnet or bumper re-sprayed, but it'll stop you from cursing as much everytime you wash the car and are reminded of all those marks.
  5. Which model shift light did you get and how much did it set you back. I'd like to get one myself. One that I can set one light to come on at lift, and another at redline (or thereabouts). I know that one of the gizmo models does this, but there seems to be a few. Also, a question to everyone else: Where is a good place to mount this which will be neat (no wires showing) and not attract attention from the law. Thanks!
  6. Sounds like a great idea, interested to read the outcome guys!
  7. ....And lets not forget if you have a PDA or dedicated portable system you can 'swap and go' from car to car. This is important for me as myself and my girlfriend have a car each as well as family who would probably like to borrow it on the odd occaision. More practical if you ask me, even if you can afford the genuine Toyota unit.
  8. If they are gunna do the Sportivo logo in the correct size and font in red colour with the white outlining (as per 2005 badging) then I would like the Sportivo print. If they arent going to go to that detail then just put me down for the regular white TRD logo print. Either way, dark grey material please!
  9. Looks to be a US site. Would be ok if their "Free Shipping" policy included overseas buyers.
  10. Ok I have a few comments and questions regarding the last few posts guys. Navman seems to be the popular choice for size and ease of use but still has its problems. Lets face it, its not cheap enough to say "oh, i'll just buy it and give it a try". I'm interested now to hear from Tom Tom owners as while their product might be larger, there are other benefits. I was reading that some of their models have bluetooth which can sync with your bluetooth enabled mobile and act as a handfree kit! I have to say thats very handy. As for the other specifics; reliability and accuracy etc I'm not sure. Speak up people!
  11. Goddam! When I brought my car in May the dealer told me it would be around $2000. I should have taken him up on it. Personally I think i'm going to get a portable GPS unit. I'm in an out of different cars alot so it makes more sense on both a cost and practicality basis.
  12. I'm still in, but i've changed my colour preference from black to dark grey. Also, if the Sportivo logo's dont go ahead, i'm happy with the standard TRD logo in white. Thanks!
  13. Extremely interested ot hear from other members with some sort of Sat Nav in their vehicles, whether it be portable or installed. Already mentioned is: Navman, Mio, Tomtom. There are also others out there: Garmin, VDO, Margellan etc just to name a few. Please provide as much feedback as possible including models and their effectiveness/accuracy etc. Also mention whether you've found your unit to work well in tunnells, amongst tall buildings or under tree cover etc. Thanks guys.
  14. Spotted just before xmas (delayed post i know) between the Crowne Plaze and the Canberra Centre in Civic, Canberra. Red Pre-facelift Sportivo, canon exhaust, chrome or polished alloy 17's, lowered. Female driver looked to be of Asian descent. Drove up beside me at a green light before giving me a thumbs up and turning off. Anyone from here?
  15. Yes this was my gf and her car, she works near the airport so the car will be spotted out that way a fair bit.
  16. I'm sure he'll drop us a line in this thread when he gets back! I'd also like to take this opportunity to change my colour choice from black to dark grey! Thanks!
  17. Two Beers, So sorry to hear about the accident. Cant help you out with your question though, i'm far too fussy to drive my car on any dirt at all. I cringe enough if I have to pull over on the side of a road that isnt sealed. I'd advise using only genuine parts and making sure everything gets back to original as can be. Cutting corners wont effect you in the short term but there are some pretty keen buyers out there well aware of dodgy smash repairs. A few extra dollars now might mean more peace of mind for yourself and the value you deserve come resale time! As for the wheel alignment thing, not sure if this is why your car is 'taily'. If you do want your steering, suspension, wheels checked; see your dealer or even Inline Suspension and Steering at Queanbeyan for a check that would be absolutley second to none.
  18. I asked my dealership this same question just out of interest (never plan on taking my car elsewhere though) and they said pretty muc hwhat Buddha says below..... ....although they did say that any parts used must be genuine Toyota!
  19. What an influx of people dashing to get the last of the Sportivo's! When I joined this forum I was the only white facelift owner, then Daz came on board and it was pretty quiet til now. Now people are plucking them out of the dealerships, good to see more coming to the snowflake team. According to someone I know who works in sales at Toyota, there are only 4 white and only 1 black Sportivo in the country. Apparently there are over 30 silver but i'm not sure about the other two colours. Get em while they're hot ppl!
  20. I asked about the Sat Nav when I brought my Sportivo. Apparently its about $2000 and for that money you dont even get a premium sound system incorporated. Theres a double-din space there in the Corolla, surely Toyota could come up with a 6 disc in dash with Sat-Nav plus seperate sub and amp(s) and premium speakers. All of the equipment could be located under the front seats as per the premium sound system in the Mazda 3's. The Bose systems in those are quite nice. And the fact that you dont have to spend a day installing an aftermarket system or let some stereo installer loose in your car is icing on the cake!
  21. If CES do one to fit the 05' model than i'll definately be in for that! Hopefully they can put one out that fits properly and at a realisitic price.
  22. Not commenting on the style but I will say that 18" is a must if you want the right look. However if you are going to be using the car from track days you might want to go with 17's as they are cheaper. If its just a daily commuter/cruiser then get some 18x7.5's and some 225/35/18 rubber. Drop the ride height and those two modifications alone will make such a change to the look of your car!
  23. My gf has the concept 9's in shadow finish on her Ascent, apart from being heavier than alot of 17's, their fine. Its a daily commuter (will never see the track) so its not making that much difference to fuel consumption. Finish seems ok so far but then again they have only been on the car for around 2-3 months.
  24. u cna buy JUST the springs for $220 .. if u can install it urself just need a clamp and u should be sweet .. then take it in for an alignment when u get ur rims As stated above you can get a set of King lows or ultra lows for $220 off Ebay (plus $15 shipping). With a set of spring compressors you can change them yourself and then go for an alignment. Total cost is going to be well under $300. Thats what I did over the Christmas holidays with my gf's Ascent and to date is the cheapest way to do it without cutting corners.
  25. Just found this thread, I'm a Canberra member but I am in and out of the town on my weekends. But if I happen to be in town when you guys roll in then we'll meet up for sure.
