  1. There are pics of all then mentioned front lips in a recent post here somewhere. Was only reading it the other day.
  2. Yeah theyre fitted with a thermo fan and temp sensor. If you turn off the car and the temp is above a certain point the fan will continue to run. My mums Vectra does this also. My rolla hasnt done it yet but I usually listen for the fan when I pull up. If I can hear it still running I let the car idle til it switches off. I find its more effective to leave the car running as all the coolant is still flowing etc.
  3. I went with 18's and springs. I'm happy with my choice...
  4. Yeah its true, I used the meguiars gold class leather cleaner/protector recently and it is hard to do a proper job without getting it in the perforated leather (the bits with the holes). So I guess the wipes are good for the inserts at least. Anymore feedback regarding this?
  5. That will be an expensive mistake to fix if any facelift stivo drivers go cracking those front lips! Pre facelift lip looks even sharper, lower and more prone to being hit.
  6. Black 05 Sportivo at Copland College, Copland Drive, EVATT ACT. Sold by Canberra Toyota according to the plate frames. <_<
  7. This is reminding me of a topic that I cant seem to turn up in a search. Who is it here that has the dual stage shift light? It was described as a shift light unit which houses more than one light in its barrel. One is set at 6000rpm to light up when under high lift and another set to go off at the redline or desired shift point. Very interested to hear from this user as i'm wanting to utilise the same setup. (Also: does splicing the loom affect warranty? i'm assuming so).
  8. So which Meguiars product do you use on your dash and plastics? (door trims etc) I want to protect it but keep it looking new without the oily results spoken about above and also without a finish that dust sticks to.
  9. OK everyone lets talk reality here. For those of you worried about the slight performance disadvantage of 18" rims, maybe you all should be driving something thats not a Corolla. A Corolla Sportivo is not a track or strip weapon without some fairly costly modifications all round. They are a road car designed to give the driver the option of a spirited drive, should they desire to do so. For day to day use and the odd few squirts up to 8000rpm the 18's are fine. I've noticed very little loss at launch and can still land 1-2-3 lift. evl_50a - If you like the 18's, go with them! I havent seen a set on a Corolla yet that looked bad. However, if your trying to shave tenths off your quarter mile times, have a think about the cash your going to be forking out for wear and tear and general abuse to the car. You'll be spending alot more on that than the extra cost 18" tyres will demmand! Final note - no offence intended to any of you guys out there with earlier opinions, respect to you guys running your cars round the tracks and down the quarters! But really how long are you going to be able to use them for the daily commute if they're out being thrashed every weekend?
  10. Big chrome rims (19's on a Rolla, un less you wanna pump your guards) Air bag suspension (legal in Oz if engineered) Underbody neons Smooth deep exhauast note That deep groan of bass you hear from a good system as it goes by with the windows up!
  11. I'm having the same vibration problem! I only have a stock stereo and I'm getting the problem. Main vibration is coming from the power window switch on the drivers door. When I put downward pressure on it most of the vibration stops. Also, the parts of the door trims closest to the speakers also vibrate a little on both front doors. I'll have to see what I can do to remedy this when I take the trims off to change speakers.
  12. Will have to be a superb all round package to have any chance in a 'bang for your buck' type contest (ie: Motor magazine). 43k plus on road makes it tough to compete in the Hot hatch segment thats for sure. Dont remember reading it on the site but I dont think its AWD is it? If its not it should be at that price. Also, if its not AWD I hope it has a pretty smart LSD.
  13. Definately not standard. Roughly $150rrp. Got mine thrown in though amongst all the bargaining.
  14. As stated guys his car felt sluggish before the exhaust mod. Besides fuel choices could it possibly be the run in method used? How did you run the car in? I don't know how mine performs compared to other cars on here but I think mine goes ok. I realise run in methods have been covered in previous topics but it can sometimes explain 'performance variances' in supposedly identical engines. I drove mine in very varied ways for the first 1500km - very easy driving with short hard bursts into lift, allowing the engine to heat up and cool down. After 1500km I hit it up hard whenever I feel the need (or whenever some clown in an EVO copy pulls up beside me). Dont get me wrong im not constantly flogging it, but the tacho needle gets to venture to the other side of 6,000rpm on regular occaisions. Anyways, if you've been babying it, dont go so easy on it. Loosen it up a little! If you've already been giving it a serve, disregard my rambling :D
  15. $850 for a rear muffler? CES catback please!
  16. If your bothering to change the oil then you may as well change the filter. Slight correction on the filter, they're a little more than $5 unless your getting them at cost or using 'black and gold' filters. They are closer to $20 retail.
  17. Whats that worth here in OZ? Anyone know if there is one to suit the 2ZZGE? If so, how much?
  18. Castrol Formula R 5w 30. Its designed for this type of application, high revving, latest technology engines. Been using it since 1000km. Engine spins more freely and runs a touch cooler. It gives me a little more peace of mind when i'm wringing its neck at nearly 8000rpm.
  19. What happened to traditional white wedding cars? I think mine would look rather nice all dolled up with wedding ribbons...
  20. As I was getting a brand newie fresh off the boat when I brought mine I had to make a few compromises. All of the things I wanted thrown in couldnt be. So I picked the dearest stuff to be thrown in and was offered cost price for anything additional I wanted. Thrown in: Tints, pedals, carpet mats Cost price: dash mat, hatch loading mat, bonnet protector ...and yes you do need the bonnet protector!
  21. Personally I dont like the gold. The style of the rims should suit but i'd go for silver (not as interesting I know), hyper silver or shadow chrome. If your going to go white with gold it might be worth doing the badges and pinstriping as mentioned above! Your car, your call!
  22. Dont forget guys that in addition to your location determining your cost, the way its stored will also make a difference. A vehicle parked in a lockup garage overnight will be cheaper than one parked in the driveway or on the road. Without checking mine is just under or over $700 with NRMA. 23 y/o, been with NRMA since I was 17. No at fault claims.
  23. As 02Rolla stated above there is a way of telling, check your build plate for: I just havent had a chance to check mine as yet
  24. Mine is built IN April 05 so i'm not sure which version I have. Havent had a chance to check the model code.
  25. I don't know the exact build date of the 05 model stivos but there is 2 different verions of stivos built in 05. ZZE123R 92 which was built before april ZZE123R 5Y which was built after april. (not long after that article it seems) So possible we do allready have this stivo ? can anyone confrim this ? ← These are both very interesting points, would Toyota SA really spend the extra time effort and hassle of having different powered vehicles for different markets when it is one of the lower volumes of the range, doesn't make sense to me. So to backup 02Rollas question: Is the described car already here?
