  1. For starters the 5S-FE is not as good of a starting platform as the 3S-GTE. If you were going to use a 3S-GTE box, you might as well use the engine as well. The idea of deleting the GT4 front driveshafts is not the best idea. The rears may be able to handle the power but were not designed to take all the load. The best platform to start with would be an ST205, but then you would be essentially decreasing the capability of the vehicle. As mentioned above, the amount of time and money to complete this task should not be under estimated. Good luck if you go though with it, but many people never do.
  2. Knock sensor is not near the drivers side(top centre-ish at the rear of the block as it sits in the car), if it is coming fom that region it will most likely be valve cover seal/gasket. Could even potentially be distributor o-ring, depending on how far around it is leaking.
  3. Valve Cover seal is also a common one, pics will help though.
  4. Yes, the interiors and panels are MOSTLY the same between a 185 and a 184. However the following things WONT fit (that I know of) LHS Front Seat RHS Front Seat Interior Carpet The ST185 has a different floorpan to the 184, and if you were trying to find a stripped one you would need to make sure it still had its drive train. Also, making a 5SGTE is not as easy as just slapping together a 5SFE and a 3SGTE. both trentmeyer23 and myself have done extensive research, and built 5SGTEs. Agreed, granted mechanical experience will help, but you will need to do a hell of a lot of research along the way. It is MUCH more complicated if you do things the right way.
  5. Possibly a weak detent spring.
  6. Baby steps buddy, baby steps. The task you want to undertake there is a massive one, both on your wallet and in time. I'm gunna leave the parts swapping stuff to someone else, but from my experiences only some ST184 and ST185 parts exchange and I dont think you will have any luck with the ST205.
  7. Loki aka KIRIUS comes to our meets. Mick used to have a have a few Celicas and still has a couple as well. He is probably the most knowledgeable Celica guys around. I have a bit of knowledge of the 5S-FE engine as well.
  8. Nice wheels, but they looks to small with those monster brakes :P
  9. Speaking of which, where is Zeinheiger?
  10. Pull your head in champ, I'll make my own damn opinions and assumptions. Just because someone else says something I am not going to follow it. I am in the industry and have had MANY people try and blame dealerships and workshops when they are in fact the one that has done the damage. The fact that it was 12 months on makes it suspicious as hell, I know if something breaks under warranty I take it back right away. Have a nice day.
  11. A man that changed the face of technology.
  12. Cool story, but a link might help.
  13. Wacol had a shell last time I was out there.
  14. What time would we start and finish this? Some people may have to start work at bullsh*t o'clock on the friday.
  15. Welcome... Why do you say FWD is a downfall? No hectic skids?
  16. Tyres may be scalloped or possible wheel bearing.Possibly the issue causing both symptoms, but may be 2 unrelated issues.
  17. It was most likely caused by you. You are probably just not aware of it. Now you don't want to pay the money for a replacement so you are bad mouthing a dealer who probably has done nothing wrong. With the arrogant attitude you have towards this, if I were a dealer, i would not help you either.
