hey peeps, i can get pair of either ma61 or ra60 struts to fit to my ae86 for a big break upgrade.

thing is tho i heard theres a slight lenght difference which will result in a minor addition of posiive camber, this is unacceptable (lol) so i was wondering if it is possible to shorten the lenght of the struts if i were to find the measurments ?? dont know if this is costly or not worth the effort, just an idea at this stage.

any help is appreciated

it's not the length that causes the camber difference, it's the angle of the stub to the strut.

Some suspension places can bend the strut to induce more negative camber, I used cusco camber tops on my car to correct the camber after converting the MA61 struts to coilovers with steel Koni sleeves etc.

oh really. i see !

i wonder if its costly to slightly bend the strut ?

with the camber tops what camber setting was achieved with the ma61 struts ?

oh ma61 brakes would be amazing on an ae86 O_O !!!!!!!

I used an S15 master to get the braking up to scratch. It was set to about 2deg negative up front, you might have strut tower clearance issues if you use camber tops with full size coil springs.

AE71 and KE70, exactly the same setup as you would use if you were doing it to a rusty AE86.

AE71 tierods and TA6x arms.

the strut gets bent near the knuckle if you dont use cambertops.

i see...

so on ae86 i assume u use ae86 tie rods ??

this is interesting as with the extra power i really need a brake upgrade.

this proberly seems one of the cheapest effective upgrades dont u think mr rollamods ??

so to do this conversion i would need....

AE71 tierods (are these same as ke70 ?? or different ??) ... is that for ae71.. so could i use ae86 tie rods as this is being done to ae86 ??

TA6x arms

Ma61 struts (oviously lol)

do i use the top part of the ae86 strut to mod onto ma61 strut or something ??

is ma61 and ra6X the same struts are they ??

i just decided to think about do the conversion this year for the big brakes.. its so headeache !!! ha ha/

id use ra40 tie rods and tie rod ends (outer) ($8ea at pick a part, $15ea new)

Cressida mx50 (early early 80's) lca ($25ea at pick a part)

front s13 coilovers ($300-800 2nd hand)

front ca18 hubs and brakes ($50-200, sr20det brakes for huge upgrade)

on car adjustable castor arm ($200ish new off ebay or from japan)

ae86 strut tops (like the adj camber cusco ones, around $300new)
