just wondering.. there has got 2 be something better than geocities to host a free site.

geocities is too restrictive if youve got a flash website fixed up!

is there a free website place out there you guys can recommend?

doesnt matter about the domain name or whatever... i just need it to host a website im working on.

thanks 4 your help in advance.

This is a great free host

http://www.fateback.com/

No ads (well they have their own little banner on the top), 60mb, unlimited bandwidth, even a control panel (they have FTP services, email services, control ur domain name, etc)

Not sure if they have server side scripting support tho never tried, however if your just going to use flash then this should do the job :)

Theres also http://www.angelfire.com

gday, thanks 4 the replies..

i tried fateback and it seemed to do the job except i have some flash files close to 600kb and fateback has a limit of 200kb per file.

is there a site that can do better than that?

does optus give free webspace to its users? i ddint see any there

I'm pretty sure they do... for Cable users anyway. They should for ADSL users too.

Check your member services page I guess. Web Services or something along those lines.

Alright here you go.

Type "ftp://members.optusnet.com.au/" into your Internet Explorer address bar.

You'll be prompted with a username and password. Type those in and you can access your webspace for that username you've typed in.

If you want to upload files and manage them, click on Page and then "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer".

Start uploading your files.

your files can be access from "http://members.optusnet.com.au/yourusername"

Let me know if that works for you.

optus is fairly good.. 10mb free webspace, i think... but you can create up to 5 users in that member services page.. so think 50mb across 5 users/websites.

I've used mine for blogger
