It seams as though a deal has now been confirmed between Toyota and Jordan for the Jordan F1 team to run rebadged toyota engines next year (similar to the Sauber Ferarri deal) as a trade off to this, Our own Ryan Briscoe is rumoured to be the lead driver for the Jordan team, to get some race experience following 2 stellar seasons as a full time tester and the 2nd half of this year as the 3rd race weekend driver for the Panasonic Toyota team.

Congratulations Ryan and we all hope you are able to push it with the big boys real soon. Plus it's great to get a 2nd Aussie in the main F1 field.... Now to promote James Courtney (though if I were him I'd be pretty happy driving the TOMS' Supra too)..... :P :P

To update for those interested so close to the start of the new GP season...

Ryan Briscoe said no to the Jordan deal and moved to the IRL for a 2 year stint with no less then Chip Ganassi Racing (the same team as past Champ Car winners Juan Montoya and Alex Zanardi as well as many others now with a stangle hold on IRL and interestingly enough Toyota engines :D) in the hope of lining up a competitive F1 drive in that time while getting some race experience. He incidently also posted the fastest time in his opening testing session at Homestead in Florida (on the roud course) and 5th the next day (running on the oval)

Jordan F1 has been sold to the Midland group and will be known as Midland F1 from 2006 and will run Toyota engines :D

James Courtney has signed a deal to race with Kiwi legend 'Gentleman' Jim Richards for HRT at the Qld 500 and Bathurst 1000 having turned his back on F1 after being disgruntled by his time at Jaguar and since enjoying life in the Japanese 'Tin-tops' driving the TOM'S Supra :D

Pansonic Toyota F1 in the mean time look to have finally put some real money, thought, time and effort into this years season and with the radical regulation changes are looking at having purpose built front wings and bodywork for each track to compensate for the reduced downforce (at least for the first 4 races and see from there). At this stage they look to still have the straight line speed but still miss a bit in the corners with excessive rear wheel tyre wear their greatest concern esp with the new long life tyre regulation (1 set of tyres for the entire race distance + qualifying, only able to change for damage caused by contact, or punctures)

Sorry, just one correction there ... Courtney will race for HRT at the Sandown 500, unfortunately we Qld'ers now only get 280 kms and no Courtney! :(

Normally I follow the Falcons in V8Supercar, but I will be keeping an eye on Courtney's progress, not to mention the poetry in motion that is Skaifey on his Top 10 lap at Bathurst ...
