Hi there all,

Just like to ask is anyone having issues with Bluetooth Hand Free with the new Rav 4 SX6, my issue is poor sound quality, the poor quality is repoted by other party in a telephone conversation (I can hear them, they struggle to hear me - muffled / distant)

I have a phone that supports Internation Bluetooth Standard 1.1 as per Toyota specs (as per below)....the phone is up to date with firmware and it also supports version 1.2 (which is backward compatible)

Toyota Spes "BluetoothTM will only operate with telephones enabled with compatible BluetoothTM wireless technology (HFP [Hands Free Profile] version 1.0 OPP [Object Push Profile] and version 1.1 international standards. Cruiser, Cruiser L & SX6 - HFP, ZR6 - OPP"

I have tried three phones HP IPAQ, Palm Treo 750 and Nokia 6310i all expreience the same issue, also to add once connected there is no signal strength displayed on the LCD of the head unit (As per the manual this should happen) Also paired the phone with a head unit in another Toyota vehicle with the same result......also to note the only common thread I can think of is all phones have Telstra SIM's.

Thanks in advance for any assistance, feed back or advise.

Pete :help:

Not all phones will show signal strength. I would ask your dealer to replace the head unit - they'll need to order one from Fujitsu Ten for you. But the replacement head unit will be a refurbished one though...

Hi....

Thanks for the responce.....do you know why by chance??

I don't think a swap out will help as I have had the same outcome in a different Toyota vehicle with the same head unit model.

Thanks in advance...

I have a Nokia N80 and it does not show signal strength, but still works fine. But what I have found with ALL the Toyota's I drive, you need to speak louder than usual for the other party to hear you, unfortunately there is no adjustment for the microphone.

Hope this helps.

The microphone is situated on the unit itself. You'll see a little hole next to one of the buttons (I think it's nearest the green Answer button from memory).

I've the same issue in my Corolla, so there have been times where I've had to lean over and talk over that microphone for the other party to hear me. (I wonder what other drivers are thinking when they see me leaning over and talking to the stereo like that  )

In the end, I got sick to death with it and decided to purchase a Sony Ericsson HCB-700 Bluetooth Car Kit which I previously had in my RAV4 and it was great!

Hope to have it installed next week! :yahoo:
