serial port questions for emanage blue

hey guys&girls, so i recieved my support tool and just found out my laptop has no serial port .. would it be fine if i was to use an adapter

.. i was thinking serial to usb ..any info would be awsome..

sometimes those adapter can play up and if u have a desktop at home :P very big chance that it would have a serial port.. why not give that a try haha

I know that using a USB - Serial cable can have issues when dealing with some uses. I believe this is to do with software handshaking that has to be done as the notebook doesnt have the right hardware to perform hardware handshaking. some software doesnt respond properly with the software shake and as a result wont work.

you can also get a cardbus to serial card with would add 2 x serial ports to your notebook when the card is inserted.

the cable is the cheaper of the 2
