67ROLLA - Home at last!!

67Rolla - Ken

Recommended Posts

5K has arrived. So has new bootlid trim :D

Old engine is out, engine bay cleaned and primed. Can't wait to get the 5K cleaned, rebuilt, painted and fitted!!

Will get some pics soon...

EDIT: Chasing a KE10/20 axle (diff) assembly, not sure which ratio but the faster one...

Or does anyone know how to change diff (or diff ratio) without changing hubs (offsets/stud pattern)??

Thanks fellas. I have no set deadline, but car is entered in Motorvation (17th & 18th of Jan).

If you thought those rocker cover pics were ok...

Still not 100% happy, will spend some more time on it later, had enough of it for now!

What the rocker cover??

It would get fingerprints all over it! :P

Polished the thermostat housing as well.

Dissasembled the top end, everything looks in great shape :D

Nearly ready to paint, thinking of painting block & head red, sump black (or maybe red as well?) gearbox & driveline white...

Or should I paint the whole thing white to match the engine bay?? EDIT: Remember this is NOT going to be a daily.

Will buy a full gasket set shortly and start the rebuild as soon as all is painted.

Thanks SQU-47N

I may have found a place that can change (cut and weld) a new diff onto my axle!

My gauges are paid for and should be here in 2-3 weeks

Got to get the interior back so I can get it re-trimmed, and all trim back so I can start polishing.

Will look at collecting all this from the paint shop over the weekend.

Today I'm thinking red for head, block, sump and gearbox....

I think she may just make it to Motorvation....

OK Updates.

Dropped the old 3K (with gearbox) on my leg last weekend! :( Very sore but no damage to engine... or leg.

Interior all at the trimmers, should be done by Christmas. Red Vinyl as close to original as possible.

Body should be all finished by 14th Nov...

EDIT: Just did a tally of what has been spent so far, and cost to finish. Lets just say if I ever sold it would probably be at a loss :(

Updates!!

Car is coming home this weekend, after 9 months at the panel shop!

All the body is perfect (or close to) inside and out...

The goop in between the panels below where the data-plate goes didn't go too well with the primer/paint, this will be cleaned back and redone before she comes home. The rest of the bay looks perfect!

Interior all painted.

After many many, MANY hours the bonnet is finally perfectly strait!

How about those lines (bootlid is not fitted).

And this is what I have been doing at home.

All in all I think she's on schedule to make Motorvation...

Now I just need to get back my gauge pod, glovebox-lid, ash tray, fuel flap, and I'll be happy...

Will be picking up these bits on the weekend.

Also, I found out I had spilled some paint stripper on my 'rare' 67 tail lights :( after a couple hours sanding I think, with another couple of hours they may come up ok..

All in all I think she's on schedule to make Motorvation...

Old school cool - I love it! What suburb are you in Ken, I know of a KE10 suitable for parts if you need any?

Clint

Need tonnes of parts! I'm in Gosnells, but happy to travel...

I have sourced most of the missing parts now, but still finding more each day :(

Biggest problem is I've almost run out of money... ordered a 6x6m garage with a 10x6m patio, and between the deposit for that and the car (now close to $11k spent), I've wiped out almost all of our savings. The garage is a flat pack and I haven't sorted the pad or who is building it yet, I get the flatpack end of Jan/early Feb...

Know anyone happy to help build a garage for beers?? :D

Latest update, I've pulled 67Rolla out of Motorvation... :(

Running out of time and money to finish her, thought I'd take a step back and stress less. Don't want to rush together a car that I'm not happy with.

Should have the car running (but not complete) in a couple of weeks.

Need to sort out the following:

Front apron doesn't fit

Crack in the paint in the engine bay

Flaking paint at the front of the engine bay

Bumpers fit but are a bit wonky

Interior still needs painting in a lot of places

Overspray from the blacking

Stereo to be fitted

Alarm to be fitted

Engine to be fitted (Starting on engine this weekend)

Mate as much as it probably sucks to realise the car is not ready I think it is smart to make that decision now otherwise things are going to be rushed to get it ready in time and I have seen that over and over again with show cars down here in Adelaide and it's such a shame to see little things left on an otherwise incredible quality build.

Anyway your car rules and I want it. :yahoo:
