Bump and Grind

Sorry - was too tempted to write with innuendo!

I'm hearing some pretty pathetic sounds coming from what I think is the rear suspension. This noise is only elicited (as far as I can tell) when the car is in a slight turn/lean. The noise itself is something between hearing a coiled spring creak and what happens when you drive the the handbrake on slightly. It does not happen upon acceleration. It occured one time I sat in the car (I aint that heavy!), and seems to be more prominent when driving slowly (so I can hear) on uneven ground.

A visual inspection revealed no overt damage nor leakages.

The only thing I have there is a whiteline sway, and I have not checked the torque on the nuts...

Suggestions?

Do you have aftermarket springs in there? I had the same problem. it turned out to be the plastic boot (looks like a cup sitting upside down) that drapes over the shock piston that was rubbing against the inside of the spring. Mine eventually had a hole worn into it (the plastic cup thing)

qkslvr - springs are standard, but I will have a check anyway.

SB - yaw boss, I'll go tighten me knuts roight away!

Others: While I would love coilovers, I live in the country and worry about bottoming out on uneven terrain... it's happened before!
