Power Ratings on Computer....

~Dj Dirty

Recommended Posts

Just sat down in front of sunrise a few minutes ago, and this guy is talking about putting Energy Star Ratings on Computers. As we see on fridges, washers, dryers (most whitegoods)

WTF!? Wat does everyone think of that? Would it be useful you reckon?

Thoughts?

The Power consumption would change if you changed a component.

You could be running on-board graphics and get a very good rating, and then you put a 9800GX2 in and youve just made it consume another 240 or so watts.

lol @ Sunrise.

These are the types of stories that come out when its a quiet day/week

Similar to the frauding hoons that today tonight portray!!

I refuse to believe that journalists would make up stories about fraudulent hoons.

Stories on TV are a reflection of society...

I don't see why not as some computers stay on 24/7! :)

+1, until the computer suddenly just died..

agree, especially big businesses who rely on computers 24/7

lols but they should look into malls like westfields with their big banners & shops with all the big flashy lights (tommys kebab LMFAO), & also the shops owners who leave the damn lights on all night even though the shop is closed

You could have a base consumption rating but once you begin to customise the system (which most systems that are on 24/7 will have had done) the rating will change. You add another card/harddrive and it will go up. And of course that will give rise the dumb ****s out there that buy a PC online customise its specs and then go "why the f*** is the power consumption different?" because they are too ignorant to research it before hand.

Good idea in theory but too many dumb ****s out there will cause it to be pointless.

Crap isn't crap until it's on TV.

Sunrise, along with today tonight, prove to be the best examples of how media in this day and age are really grasping their enormous, phallic like totem poles of lies and just giving it a good old pump in the direction of ignorant people.

"Deoderant gives you cancer", tug, "If you have piercings, you're more likely to do drugs", tug, "People are scared of having too much money", tug.

Lol very true. Oh well many people spend 30 minutes of their day watching these 'informative' shows. Sometimes their stories are quite useful though. Most of the time it's just useless.
