Buying a Sportivo Corolla.

Hey, I'm currently in the market for a Corolla Sportivo and have briefly read the sticky thread about sportivo problems, i just wanted to ask if all the Gearbox and shifting problems have be fixed? don't want to get a sportivo and end up spending more money fixing the issue. Is there any other known common problems with sportivos?

thanks!

Hey mate, I bought mine second hand with 65k on the clock, 2004 model, it already had the clutch pedal adjusted and the only problem ive had is that i couldnt SMACK 2nds at 8k, 7.5k fine but not 8k, recently i got the gearbox oil changed and only rarely am i not able to shift at 8k. If i take the shift normal from 1st to 2nd it pops in fine.

Besides that ive got the gear selector cable rattle which is not really noticeable unless your really pedantic and most people end up putting a system in their car so they cant hear it anyway.

Other than that all i can say is, its the best fun lil pocket rocket you can get, i had a choice between this and a 99 model rex running 15 pound and i chose this, y? because its cheap on fuel, they are reliable and it will shock you with the amount of fun and power you can get out of these. Itll be the best investment youve ever made.

p.s. buy a black one :P

thanks for the quick reply, so what would be a standard set of questions i should be asking the owner? (looking to buy second hand) like asking him whether he had the clutch adjusted? etc?

cheers.

take some1 that knows a bit about cars, if you dont know. I took my uncle whos a panel beater, and he spotted dings and scratchs on my current sportivo which the owner didnt even know about, and ofcourse, test drive it.

Chek the service manuals 2 make sure they are kept up to date.

Seeing as Sportivo's ended their run in 05, I would say most owners had niggling issues sorted under warranty. But as all have said, take for a test drive and I think you will be pleasntely surprised. I have owned mine for about 4 weeks and am wrapped in it. This is the lowest HP car I have owned in years but I am having a blast in it. Good bang for your buck overall.
