Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am a Kiwi in NZ, just bought a RUNX recently. Its such a nice car and give you plently of speed....

currently my car got a blitz intake and a 5zigen N1 muffler, It gives a lot of power however it is too loud, any RUNX expert can tell me which muffler should i put on the vehicle to give the best performance?

And if i want to change the mainfold as well any suggestion?

I found hard to get performance parts for this vehicle in NZ.... not much people know and try to modify this car, I think this car should be rate better then EK9 or DC2 isn't it?

.....Attached photo is my car.....

The forum sponsor has a good exhaust system. As for the manifold having it ported is the best solution.

Was in NZ last week and managed to see 2 Aerotourer wagons. talk about luck!!

As superdave has suggested CES is prolly your best option for something off the shelf that has a nice note but isn't loud. check them out in the trader's section.

will you guys recommend xforce twin loop?

i just scare i will lose my high cam power with the twin loop. TRD mainfold its a bit over budget to me any other OEM or any other aftermarket options?

and where you guys get ECU from?

x force .... not a fan. why make your exhausts system longer?? Just get a muffler that does the job right the first pass through the muffler.

stock exhaust manifold ported is the best bang for buck by far.

most "real" performance shops here carry brands of ECU's that are compatible with the corolla.

mmm ces system runs out the other side?

nice car dude, welcome!

powerfc and motec are the ones i've seen people use for the 2zz, proll others you can use but their the 2 main "brand name" ones

i think a few people around here have twin loops, should see what they think of it.

man you can import anything into new zealand, we need laws like that >.<

Move to NZ man!!

hahaha once you compare the salary in NZ, you wont come here for sure!!

Power FC is too expensive for me at the moment, Manifold and ECU might be my choice at this stage

So you guys say the factory manifold is very good?

anybody tried TRD manifold?

Northy had a TRD manifold and sold it and bought a set of CES ported headers. Big difference!!

you could modify a CES catback to exit on the left if you had someone who could do it nicely without butchering it.

Motec is pretty expensive, but is probably the best ECU. Didnt the turbo car CES did use the Haltec?

Blame Holden.

seeing how you're in NZ, either of the new Link G4's are more than capable of controlling a 2zz. They've already got the ZZ in their trigger config list, and do full closed loop vvti control. Also have more than enough outputs to trigger anything else you want to run. The Xtreme also has knock input/control which is a nice feature to have on your afternarket ecu. The powerfc will let you know when the engine's knocking but can't do anything about it. D-Tech motorsport would be the guys to see in NZ.

Actually they started off with a Motec but then switched to an Autronic. Got a great tune with the autronic with no idle speed issues. 335hp atw is not a bad effort on 18psi.
