Hi all, I'm new, driving a Corolla Levin 03 - Pre-facelift (AUTOMATIC). I've been looking over topics on the forum but i havent discovered a topic mentioned about CAI for AUTOMATIC cars. I'd like to purchase a CAI. Question is:

Which brand do you think suit best?

Would the Air Flow Sensor be a trouble for the CAI?

How is the effect gonna be different from Manual cars?

Do i need to reset the ECU for it?

Your help/opinion is most appreciated.

Martin.

I am no expert, but I think Automatics still need air to oxidise, just like a manual.

Why would it make a difference??

Or just go SRI and you won't have to worry about the age old debate lingering in this forum ..........

May I present, exhibit A.

But you need to identify your driving style and the common use of your car (i.e. track or work and back)

The idea is to get cold air to the engine...

CAI's are no diff for auto or manuals and they are not transmission specific, they will fit either.

Thanks for you help guys. My car is just mainly for on road use.

I'm just worried as i've installed a CAI on my car before and i've experienced a dramatic lag of power. Perhaps i've installed it the wrong way. The mechanic told me it's because the air flow sensor was limiting the air flow (how to fix?). What do you think? And is resetting ECU a must if we install CAI?

It is essential to get the most out of your CAI.

You will loose some low end power(1-3k) but gain thereafter.
