Hi guys! I've been calling around getting quotes for servicing my camry at 150,000kms and toyota and a few other places quote me for around $620 for a normal major service which I'm told includes the timing belt.

Theres this other place that I called that quoted me close to $1k that included a water pump. Do I really need to change that? The other places said I could change it if I wanted to but it isn't in their package. Any advice?

if water pump is showing signs of wear, then you may aswell replace it with the major service. it if fails in another 1000kms time, it's going to cost you a lot more in labour to take everything apart in order to replace it.

if you can, save yourself $100 or more by changing the oil, oil filter, air filter and spark plugs yourself. rotate the tyres too, perhaps.
