hey all,

I took my car for a free end of warranty check at stewart toyota at sutherland. I told them about an issue with my left side skirt, there was a gap in it, first they said they would order in the clip or something to fix this. I took my car in then they said they ordered a skirt for me, came back later in the day and they advised me they had ordered the levin skirt so i had to reschedule for another date until the sportivo skirt came in. Went back and this time they got the correct part but I noticted that the colour is different. So it seems they have given me the 03 skirt instead of the 05 one which i know are different in colour with the silvers. I rang them back and service guy said he couldn't do anything and to speak to the warranty guys. I am thinking about going in on Friday to speak with them. Should they replace it with the correct 05 skirt which matches the same colour as the rest of my car?

Thanks

if its a warrannty repair... then yes they should... although.. if you car is an 03 model... its out of warranty.

EDIT: Sorry didnt read your post correctly... they gave you an 03 Skirt to suit your 05 car... they should def be replacing this for you... use the line "if this was your own car, would you think its acceptable?"

If it's an 05 Sportivo. Wouldn't it be out of warranty now as well? It's 2009 now.. unless my math is all wrong? haha

I use it all the time when i get shoddy work... it appeals to their sensibility. Its stuck in my head since the day i was with my old man we we took our Brand New AE92 Corolla SX back to the dealer after they did an oil change, they'd flattened HEAPS of the fins on the radiator getting out the filter (anyone who's changed a filter on a 4AGE knows what i am talking about here). They really made a mess of it... and it was a brand new car. My dad pulled the service manager out to the car, and said to him "If this was the way you got your car back after a simple oil change.... would you be happy with it??" the car went back the next day and they installed a new radiator.

I've used that line with paint shops too... my car went in for some Insurance work, and they'd put something on the roof and it'd scratched the pain on the roof, also a big scratch from my rear spoiler, i pull out the line "This part of the car wasnt even on the job sheet, yet look at it now?? Would you be happy with this kind of service, if it was your car??" It went back in and they buffed out all the scratches for me.

good service is hard to come by these days, but if you let them get away with it (bad service)... soon they start to believe its all ok to give people like us (enthusiasts) a rough go... then we come on forums, and spill our guts, and soon the response gets exponential. Its in their best interest to make it right.

ok stewart toyota didn't call me back, i had to call them back to see what was going on. They reckon the sportivo skirt for silver only came in one part number. Does anyone have the part number for the 2005 sportivo kit or if this exists and what the guy is saying is true?

Thanks

I thought Toyota service departments have a system where they can look up your exact car by entering in your VIN. Then they can click around the diagram of the car on screen and get to the sideskirt part..

There is definitely a different part number of the 05 Sportivo skirt. Maybe someone else on here is able to help with that..

just rung castle hill toyota and dude there was pretty helpful. He said the skirt that comes from toyota is black and then they get someone to spray it to match the car. Seems like stewart have just matched the silver from somewhere else and not my car.

Side skirts are the same for both models. 03 Sportivo silver colour code is 199 silver glaze. I think the silver for the facelift(which I don't like at all sorry) is called sterling silver. Can't remember the colour code.

1C0. If that's the case, then the guys obviously painted it to the wrong paint code..
