Hi Guys

Just wondering approx how much $$ I would be looking at, for a mechanic to replace a timing belt ?

92 Corolla Seca (think its the 1.6Lt job - havnt bought the car yet)?

The seller reckons he had the belt replaced at 100k, and it's now at 160k's. I am guessing that it's due for a new belt? Sound right to you ?

Any other tips on thing's to suss out when buying a 92 Corolla would be helpful. :help:

Thanks in advance, Guys

The service interval for the belt is every 100,000km

You should do the crank and cam seals while it's apart along with the timing belt tensioner.

maybe your thinking its a holden astra they need new timing belts every 60,000

when its closer to 200,000 then id look at a replacement

price may varies from $200-280, most likely cost u somewhere around $250

timing belt could last for 100k so i think u may want to change it a lil bit later, wait for 180k maybe?

92 corolla is a nice japanese car with not much fancy gears on it , check the regular thingy will be ok. any oil leak (gas gasket whatsoever), check the condition of powersteering, steering rack and auto transmittion (if there's one), these are the stuffs which will cost u heaps if there's anything wrong with them

hope this helps

Gday mate!

It depends if the engine (esp the 4AFE) on the timing belt teeth count

Dayco KTBA012 is a 94 teeth belt with all associated oil seals (better to be safe than sorry)

Dayco KTBA015 is a 117 teeth belt with all associated oil seals

Both costing around $80.00 WA in may be cheaper in th east! plus maybe a couple hours on the tools (3 tops)

manufactures have always argued the timing belt change but Toyota do say 100K but belt manufacterers say 80K..just check the last replacement date & then do the maths!
