I have a 1995 Corolla, & my manifold cracked too. I didn't get mine replaced, I had it welded back together for around $150. The guy who did it said it may not last very long before it cracked again, or it could last ages, & it's been ok for 12 months now without cracking again.

why not just get extractors theyre cheap and they flow better

mate i got the exactly the same car as you. 96 AE102X

my manifold split as well last year. I tried to get sports extractors but it was such a pain to get ones that fitted the model. Call toyota...when i called they had the last brand spank'n manifold new off the shelf. Set me back 400 with it put in.

Apparently sports extractors dont do much of a noticable increase anyway so whichever way you end up going will still get the car rolling at the end of the day.

but yeah call toyota...not a bloody local mechanic as mine was useless

ok so far ive had few quotes, ranging from $390-$420 for aftermarket part incl labour, one for $200 with second hand part incl labour, and waiting on one tomorrow for extractors.....my only worry is according to a toyota wreckers u can't get aftermarket manifolds........2 mechanics quoted on the new aftermarket part...

They do make a difference, mainly because the standard cast-iron log of a manifold is a pile of crap.

Plus extractors look better
