97 Camry Electric Antenna Replacement

Hi guys,

Does anyone have a bit of a guide on how to replace the power antenna on a 97 Camry Sedan?

I will need to get to the motor to remove the guiding rope then put the new rod and rope in.

Hey mate,

The only way I accessed my power antenna was through the boot. You'll need to remove those clip things in the material lining and get to it from there.

The best place to get pics would be heading to www.toyotanation.com and looking at the Gen 3 & 4 section... there's a whole stickied topic on all sorts of mods for these cars... look for the S2000 antenna mod and it'll show you enough no doubt.

Ended up doing this yesterday after a bit of fiddling. For anyone's future reference, I took it all out to examine how it all worked first.

Then I inserted a bit of the plastic track/guide rope into the retracting wheel and closed the whole thing back up. Then I went outside, turned the key and waited a couple of minutes for the car to send power to extend the antenna. Then hooked it all back up again, pulled the keys out and the antenna retracted fairly easily.
