TRD pistons

Hey guys,

I looked around the forum but couldn't find anything on pistons. Hopefully everyone can chip in and pass their knowledge to me.

I was looking at these TRD pistons and thei have a high compression of 13.0

Will 98RON be good enough these bad boys ?

I would say Aussie delivered 98 Octane would struggle with that.

What are you trying to do with your 2ZZ? Whats the aim, what other internal mods are you looking at? NA, Turbo charged? Stroked?

I am planning to keep everything NA.

I thought I had exhausted the TRD list but then I saw that there were TRD pistons which were cheaper than the wiesco or mahle ones, but they were higher compression.

I believe NZ and Aus share the same petrol supply chain and so it would be fairly the same. So if the pistons are too high compression for 98ron then the Japanese are running 100ron aren't they :(

Japs have 100 RON yes. I don't see the point going that much higher than stock CR. Just advance the timing instead.

Maybe when E85 is readily available, it might be worth considering.

Pointless in getting them if you're not willing to spend a good couple of thousand on your engine.
