Hi all

Just a question someone might be able to help me.

I have a 07 4x4 diesel Hilux and when the ignition is in the "on" position. I can hear a continuous clicking sound coming from the small motor just above the turbo. Is this the motor for the variable vanes in the turbo? I put my habd on it and could feel it vibrating with the clicks.

I guess I shouldn't be hearing anything, but when the car starts , I can't hear it, and the car runs fine.

Is this a warranty job or something else?

Any help appreciated

if it dont sound right get it checked out,the only advise i can offer is our fleet of turbo diesel 4 & 6 tonne tow trucks (Hino,Isuzu,DAF,Iveco) click when ign.is on position and its the Glow Plug Module/Relay,goes away when engine starts and not all of em do it so maybe get Toyota to have a quick squizz. Hi there,

I have the exact same problem with my '06 hilux. Did you ever resolve this problem, and what was the outcome? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds to me like an intermittent electrical connection from one of the exhaust sensors...?

It's normal - the variable vane solenoid checks itself and its movement range with engine off but ignition on

Thank you very much! That's interesting. I don't know anything about how these turbos work, is there anything else you can tell me to clarify?
