This concept was just revealed at the New York International Motor Show:

Clicky

No mention of what's powering it, so I'll just guess it'll be all show and no go...

Whoa.. If that ever goes into the market looking like that. I want one.

If it was all show and no go. It won't be a sss and it'd just be a normal pulsar. I'd guess they'll stay with the sr20de. Or maybe even an sr20ve.

Let's not forget Nissan's tie-up with Renault, too.

From what I've read, the 2 litre that's in the Clio is a cracker of a motor!

I'm sure it wouldn't take too much work to adapt to a new Pulsar.

You better believe it. 120kw and 200nm.. They aren't half bad.

Obviously, the higher weight of the Pulsar (assuming its a size bigger than the Clio, as per previous models) would blunt performance somewhat, but it would have to be ahead of the old SSS which put out 105kW and an amount of torque that escapes me, but I would suggest it would have been 190-odd Nm.

actually 183hp hence the name Clio sport 183

which is roughly 130kw (slightly more I think) great car, better then the old Clio sport at the top end, but far too small for my liking... a cracker of a hot hatch though :D

I was thinking of the older version renault clio sport that i had a run with.

Oh and it's actually Renault Clio Sport 182 :P hehehe

Did yous see the latest comparo in Wheels between the Clio Sport 182, Mini Cooper S and Integra TypeS. The TypeS came 3rd and the Clio came 1st. I would still go TypeS cos when it comes to FWD sports Honda is still on the ball with the Integra and its bigger and i believe has better reliability and quality.

But a new Nissan sports hatch would be great! I still remember the JDM limited edition 2 door N15 Pulsar VZR-N1 version 2 with NEO VVL engine producing 200bhp (8500rpm redline) from only 1.6litre which left the EK 185bhp Civic Type R for dead. It was an unfair comparo though since the VZR-N1 was race prepped with closer gearing and everything and it costs more than the Civic TypeR. With that cash they ran a Spoon tuned Civic Type R and won back the "King of 1.6litre" title and also a Civic Type R with B18C :D

Best Motoring Race Civic Type R vs Pulsar VZR-N1

175ps @ 7800rpm, peak torque @ 7200rpm. This is version 1, not race prepped like version 2.

Thinking of it now the engines nowadays aren't producing the amount of power we are used to seeing in these old pocket rockets like the EK Civic Type R, Pulsar VZR N1, Mirage Cyborg R all producing around 180-200bhp with only 1600cc. I think engine manufacturers now are restricted in a sense and are focussing more on cleaner emissions hence the less peaky engines and having to increase engine capacity to make up for it with more torque.
