To quote SILVABULLIT from the thread "Factory Paint protection???"

Most the paint protections dealers sell you is just a money spinner. I used to work for a dealer who charged 800 for paint protection and we bought it in a bottle that you could almost do 2 cars for $24. It took just over 30 mins to apply. not a bad way to increase profits!!

My thoughts on paint protection are clay, polish and wx your car at the start of every weather season(summer, autumn, winter, spring)

Any Brissy members who need good quality detailing and buffing, shampooing etc etc done come and see me at work at the Hand Wash Cafe at Bowen Hills.

Personally, I'd just spend part of that money on good car care products and save the rest.

I agree completely with the comments above.

For $700-800 you could buy a DA polisher, pads and products to look after the car.

Alternately you could probably get two full details, with chip repair for the same amount.

When i worked for Nissan they had Ming paint & rust & fabric protection...we use to shake our heads at the products people got sucked into (by sales),paying such huge amounts of money, upto to $2000 and this was 15yrs ago...in my eyes was a SCAM back then and still a SCAM today.

The only thing worth anything was rust proofing if you lived right near the coast...did notice the rust difference after a few years on some cars we serviced.

Yeah it's so predictable... After you've signed the deal & you think it's all done out from the corner comes the ex-supermodel who tells you about these fantastic products.

Usually starts from $1500 then in 2 minutes will tell you it's end of month or they have a sample products from the distributor & will do it for $400 or so ..

I've know people who've worked in this industry & they have always told me to buy a tin of scotchguard for the interior & to give the car a good wax yourself.
