New Engine fro your Clubman!!!

Recommended Posts

Do Toyota even make a 1.6 at the moment?

What I'd like to see is a hardcore 2.4 with VVTL-i in a Camry or RAV4..

The point is to race the clubman (or that type of vehicle) in a competitive catagory it must be a 1.6L engine block or less. Adding a turbo, S/C or going larger capacity puts you against a max 6L engine (eg Cobras) Currently the favourite amongst Clubman owners is the Toyota 4A-GE, heavilly modified still though mind you.

But I take your point, a larger capacity VVTLi would be nice too... But why not go all out and design it into the 3.0L V6???

Yeah I get that, but other than the venerable 4A series there's no current option from Toyota.

Wonder if you could build a lower capacity 2ZZ. You may lose out on capacity, but you could more than make that up with higher revs if the B16A is anything to go by. A 1.6 2ZZ with lift and 10,000+ rpm might crack 200kW...

I seriously doubt you would get 200kw from a NA 1.6L Z series motor.

The 11,000rpm Formula atlantic motors only make around 180kw. Gaining an extra 20kw from an already highly-strung NA motor is a BIG ask.

Here's one of the hasselgren 4a race motors (240hp):

These guys had the option of using the 20V VVT heads years ago but stuck with the simple 16V non-vvt gear. I'll leave it to you to figure out why...

One of the guys down south has already done a 1zzfe clubman, involved a fair amount of work to mount it in RWD config.
