well time for a bit of an update.

I've been chasing a Gremlin for the past 2 weeks.

Driving the car under load it felt like it was dropping cylinders, called the RACV and had a guy tell me it was the coil.

So i though it was a good opportunity to replace the entire ignition system.

- Coil

- Leads

- Dizzy Cap,

- Rotor Button

- Points

- Spark Plugs

... but it didnt fix it... so after another session with the RACV, he couldnt figure it out. so i rang my trusty bank of knowledge at Head 2 Head.

Peter suggested checking the valve clearences, so booked in with my mechanic and had it checked out. Cylinder 2 was well out of spec, so it was all adjusted. Just happens my mechanic is at the back of my exhaust shop, so i got a new system fitted too ;)

So after the work was done.. all seemed well... then a trip out to Simons place, and my problem reared its ugly head again..... ARGH. The RACV guy suggested the carby rebuild.

so i spent $400 on a carby reco.... full rebuild and tune to the engine.

but alas.... still felt like it was dropping cylinders.... annoyed or what!!!!

so i drove to my local parts shop, East Coast Auto Spares... and asked another brains trust there. they suggested changing the Condenser, which is a small capacitor that sits on the Dizzy which flattens out the spark from the coil. Grasping at threads here... my next step was going to be rebuild the head..... so i thought why not... give it a crack.

and low and behold..... it fixed it. $22.95 for a new spark condensor. problem solved.

car runs so smooth now, with new ignition system, reco'd carby, and all the valves at optimum clearence specs... its so awesome!

New pics to come soon..... featuring my flashy Chrome Roof Racks.

The good ole boys at Eastcoast...wealth of knowledge at that place, glad the gremlin was caught and dealt with...well done mate this wagoon is starting to take shape very nicley. :)
