Starting to feel unsure about which colour rails to get after seeing Speedracers.

I kinda like the contrast. Do I go contrast or blend? The black on black looks cool but I like the way you notice the rails with a different colour.

I'm not a fan of the black rails on the Altitude so I vote for the grey rails. I'm still getting used to my grey on silver but I think grey on black would look great.

speedracer are your side steps from oznest as well? Can I see some more side full length shots. It's slowly growing on me.

Having never considered sidesteps, they're starting to grow on me as well gerds. Probably wont get them though, not soon anyway.

My preferences for mods, in order are.......; 1 Rails & racks, 2 Fogs, 3 Steps,

These mods are totally dependent on cash flow which coming into chrissy with three kids wont be too flowing more like trickling, so it will be a while before I get these.

I bought some of these and put them on today. I don't have an issue with gaps, but I had to use a round file to move a couple of holes across to fit the long rail to the 'feet' on one side. No big deal. They're definitely darker which wouldn't matter if your car isn't silver like mine. I don't mind the contrast, I'm sure I'll get used to it. Anyway, onto the pics

The oem rails on my KX-S were darker and seem a similar colour to the ones you've purchased.

Thanks for posting the pic Kesawi, it does look like a similar colour. I feel happier now :P

Thanks for going to the trouble with the photos of the gap & your opinions on rail colour boys.

I'm none the wiser. Suppose I'll check both out when I go out to see them.

I'm kinda leaning towards the black cause I can match them with the black racks.

There must be something to be able to fix that gap prob, suggestions anyone?

Possible reasons for the gap:

1.) feet that connect rail to the roof are too long - suppose that these can be filed back.

2.) the rubber that sits between the rail and the roof is not thick enough?? Having viewed both OZNEST and OEM rails alongside each other the rubber is definately different.

3.) As mentioned above by speedrace, the cover is not on properly with the tabs not snapping into place correctly.

The more I think about it, speedracer could be right. When we put this on we noticed that the tabs had some plastic 'dags' on them that could be preventing the correct fitment. I will further investigate this, probably next weekend and post pics (if I remember!!)

Anyway, see below more pics as requested by gerds.

Update:

Rails have arrived and installed tonight!! Look good..... but they are not a perfect fit. As someone else reported there is a slight 3-4 mm gap between the rubber and the roof. The gap is worse on the back. I was lucky that there was a graphite grande parked across the road tonight and everything looks pretty similar except for the rubber bit that goes between the rail and the roof. There is also a slight colour difference - OZNEST rails are a couple of shades darker grey.

I think that you can purchase the rubber bits seperately from Toyota!! But overall i'm not too worried about it as you would have to be up close to notice the gaps.

I'll post some images tomorrow - Too dark now!!

PICS as promised below:

Hey mate,

Looking great.

How did you find the ride and handling after going from the standard KXR 17's to the 19's you have now?

I have heard other say there isn't much difference ride quality wise? What about rough roads, highway noise, and handling? Differences?

Thanks heaps

Hi Wilsact,

Negotiated to get wheels on the car when we purchased so I cannot give you a comparison with the 17's!! SORRY.

Hey Gerds,

Messaging from the USA here...any stores on line you know of that sell those factory side rail kits? My base model here in the states didn't come with it and I have the mounting holes there ready to go...just need to buy it and don't want to fork over the $1,400 Toyota wants from the Stealership!

hey kansai kid. go to ebay.com.au and search for kluger roof rails and ask the seller oznest how much shipping is to the U.S.A. I believe one of our Kluger members posted a nudge/nerf bar to the States to a Highlander forum member. It's AUD$300 = USD$275 approx + shipping costs. THey weigh probably 10kg with the box.

Hope this helps. As you can see some members have posted their installs and the gaps people are talking about are minor compared to the cost savings.

Got the rails in from Oznest...outstanding rails! Just like the factory ones here in the USA. I love them and they are perfect with no gap on the Highlander model. Great work recommending them. They got here fast and only set me back $350 including shipping! Very happy with them.

Hi Everyone

I bought a Kluger KX-R FWD 7 seater two months ago and I am very happy with it.

Now my parents are coming for xmas and new year and we are planning a long trip for the 7 of us, so I am looking for some roof rails or roof racks.

I found this discussion about the roof rails from ozznet, and I think this would be the ideal solution, together with some cross bars.

The thing is that I have a Tidal Blue one and at the moment ozznet have gray roof racks. I think the black ones will look much better on a blue kluger. I contact them and they told me that they are expecting black ones in two or three weeks, but I think they have told the same thing to other peaople some time ago. I need to get something for my trip before the endo of the year.

To the people who already have the gray roof rails, do you think they would look good on the blue Kluger?

Thanks for your help

Cheers

kansas kid - post some pics!

eze - the grey ones match any colour, the black not so well with all kluger IMO.

Do you know if the KX-S model in blue can come with grey or black roof rails or they are only black?

I was having a look at some photos from some KX-S for sale and I think they are grey. What do you think?

I found another KX-S and these roof rails definetively looked grey for me. What do you think?

the ones from oznest will look like the KXS colour rails. So that is what your car will look like without the 19" wheels.

I assume you will do or have done your fog install also.

Thanks for your help

I have decided to buy the grey roof rails from oznet.

But I am also looking for roof racks to used with those rails. Which roof racks have you used with those rails.

I was looking at ones also sold by oznet, but they said the longest ones are for up t 105 cm between rails , and I have measure 113 for the kluger

What about you.

I would like something not very expensive. Below 150 if possible

Thanks

I think you will struggle to get racks to suit the rails for under $150. I have some adjustable Thule racks from my old Subaru Outback. The clamps suit but the bars themselves are too short....Kluger is wider than Outback. I have been trying to get to the local roof rack specialists to see what the bars are worth. Will let you know. Hopefully before XMas.

Hi Guys,

Just found this great group about Kluger. I have a quick question if someone can help. Someone sold me the Toyota roof racks and I thought I could fit them myself, but when I started installing, I found I could not fit them into the provided fittings. See the picture below. Can someone please recommend what I should do? Thank you in advance.
