Hi guys,

Im about to do 40,000 KM service. I am supplying my own oil and oil filter, and they are going to charge me $240 at Ultratune.

Is that reasonable?

Im doing it at Ultratune as I still have my warranty for 6 months.

Rip off? Sounds like it to me also.

I had it serviced there before for around $150 with my oil and oil filter provided, not sure why the $240 now. Thats like $300 if they provided their own oil and filter.

I called another Ultratine place and they said it would be $230. So saving only 10 bucks.

They said they would be changing motor oil, air failter and breake fluids.

If they provided the oil and oil filter it would cost me $290.

Sounds like a bit of a rip off doesn't it. My Aurion can get it's major service from the dealership for less than that.

Toyota just quoted me $420 and $357 with my own oil and filter.

Wtf?

buy yourself an airfilter , brake fluid and provide oil and filter with it and shop around , if you can find someone that is in a smaller workshop where you can still get a stamp in your book im 100% certain it will be a ****load cheaper... for me to take my sportivo with my own oil and filter for a standard service and the "stamp" that im after to show it's had the required work performed in it's life it is 60 odd $$$ for me at my workshop of choice.

I didnt buy my car brand new... it was an ex rental so I am not sure if they had some advantage card.

Check a Toyota service place and get them to look up your VIN on their system. Should only cost $120 then.

I had some deal and they can look up full service history if its been done with Toyota.

I bought my 07 ZRE Corolla second hand as well and didn't have this advantage card, but when I booked it in for the 40K service I asked them to check the VON on their system and they confirmed it was listed on the advantage program, so it only cost me $120.00

From Toyota Service Advantage:

Toyota Service Advantage pricing represents the maximum amount payable for standard scheduled servicing which is as per 'maintenance for normal operating conditions' outlined in the Warranty and Service Handbook service schedule. Service Advantage
excludes Government and Rental vehicles
and certain other exclusions apply.

Mine was ex-rental as well, sold to private buyer at an auction and then I bought it from him, it was covered by the advtange program when I gave them the VIN. Not sure how this happened but am happy with the end result ;)
