Passenger Side Dash

Hoping somebody who's had their dash apart can give me some info.

Is there anything inside there on the passenger side, directly on top of the glovebox? Long story short I want to open my glove box and drill 4 screws up through the underside of the dash. I know the airbag is in the dash there, but I assume its right near the top and wouldn't be effected by a few screws?

If going by my dashmat the airbag is right in the middle of the dash, not sure how it deploys as there is no defining area marked out unlike the previous camry which had a marked cover.

If you are talking about drilling into the top of the glove box compartment, you have at least 15cm gap between that and the actual airbag/support beam, etc. You will be fine. I have photos on my other laptop, but that is at home.

To give you an idea of how much room you have, if you look at the dash where you have that silver trim between the dash and glovebox, the bottom corner of the airbag is just about in line with the top of that silver trim.

Cheers. 150mm is heaps. I'm only talking really short screws here - enough to hold a polycarb bracket and a single DIN HU. Is there much meat in that panel to screw into?

The plastic is about 1.5mm-2mm thick. The only issue you would find is that it has a little bit of flex in it (but the right screw would hold quite a bit of weight), and that if you look at it, you will see the surface isn't completely flat. There are sections of it that are lower (more raised) than others. You'll see what I mean when you look at it.
