how they look is one thing but how they work is more important to me. i would not purchase a double din head unit for the sake of upgrading from the same size.

if i found a double din head unit which meets my needs i would purchase it. i would not purchase a double din head unit just for its looks.

most if not all new single din head units let you remove the face when you depart from your car for security. do you do the same thing with double din head units? i would not like to carry around a bulky case!

i was initially looking at getting that pioneer one. but it cost twice as much as the alpine one. and they were the only 2 available that were new and had MD and so had to decide on the alpine.

at the moment, i'm happy with what it does even tho it doesn't do the flashy lights. but one thing tho, it only has 1 set of RCA outs for some reason but it seems to power my set of front splits pretty well.

that pioneer one has 3 RCA outs, and even some little sensor u attach to the headrest so that it can automatically tune the delays and EQ and stuff.

oh it works well, has all the standard high end funtionality, with the built in lcd screen and DVD/VCD/MP3 playback youd expect.

i am glad to hear that it works well. i am interested to find out what do you do for security? how do you prevent theft of double din head units, generally speaking? aftermarket sound systems typically attract theft and damage to doors and consoles

Double dins are now coming with fully/partial detachable face plates, otherwise the majority are and still remain non-detatchable. Its a draw back. But nowadays people break into ur car for mobile phones and snap-on seat covers, you cant win.
