Screeching on new brake pads

Recommended Posts

Hey guys i had new front brake pads put in almost a month ago now, the were blue Protexs'. When they first got put in they screeched really bad, so my cousing machined the rotors for me, it lessened the screech but it was still there so we took out the brakes grinded it down and grinded the edges as well, the car doesn't screech when moving forward but when braking when i reverse it still does and is loud, has anyone had an issue like this before and come up with a solution?

my fronts make a bit of sound when reversing .. Not as loud as what you mentioned but ..

I can tell my front pads were replaced recently but i didnt get them in and from the dust on my wheels i can tell they have to be some cheap s**t..

I put Bendix on rears and the rear wheels are always very clean but the fronts the opposite.. The fronts have to work harder hence more wear but still imo i get too much pad dust ..Luckly not much noise unless reversing..

When the edges of the pads were ground, was it just the leading edge or both leading and trailing? If just the leading edge was ground, then obviously the sound wouldn't go away in reverse as the disc spins the opposite direction in reverse :P
