thinking about vehicle wraps applied to rides and if they survive a few years or are more trouble than they are worth when time comes to remove etc.

sorry if this topic is already under me nose somewhere on forums :D

anything stuck to your paintwork is a bad idea unless you intend to either leave it there permanently, or if you've got some cash to burn to get it chipped off and repaint your car when you get tired of it then go for it.......

There is a company in the US that some trick looking gear.... www.flxpaint.com

Leave it with you :)

How long they last depends on the quality of the decals, as well as the preparation of the surface.

I would give the car a good wax and clay bar to remove any surface gunk prior to applying the decals.

Ease of application again depends on the type and quality of the material.

This was my car,

These guys created the design for me: http://www.visionworkz.com.sg/

But I had to put in on myself (with the help of plenty of soapy water)

The Shiny bits were the most difficult in my unskilled hands and there were some bubbles...

Removing will take time, but shouldn't affect the paint work if the original paint work was good to begin with.

I have since de-modified that car and have removed the decals after about a year with no adverse effect to the original paintwork.

From my experience with decals and cars, whenever I have seen them removed, there has always been some form of fading on the painted surfaces surrounding the decal.

Did you have any issues like that e240? Maybe it's more to do with the QLD sun.

Nah, I wax my car (used to) regularly and always park it under cover out of the harsh sun..
