When i tested my audio system today after finishing it i noticed alternator whine. It was coming from the rear RCA cable. I tested a few cables and all had alternator whine. When i removed the rear RCA there was no alternator whine.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing the problem?

does the rca have grounding, if so use it.

also make sure u have a cap on the alternator to suppress noise.

Are your RCA and Power cable running side by side?

If so, seperate them as the Current from the power wire can interfere with the RCA signal giving that whine. The shielding on the RCA's can also help reduce it, but that depends on the quality of the RCA's you have.

Same happened to me in my Verada, seperated them and all is good.

If all fails, may be a faulty RCA lead, replace and try again, it's all, unfortunately, trial and error.

My RCA and power cables are way apart from each other. I tried 3 different amps and 6 RCA cables and all give whine ONLY on the rear RCA when plugged. :g:

I'm going to check again tomorrow to see what could be the reason.

You can get noise filters for the RCA cables, they are about $30 each. you will need 2 filters for a 4 Channel Amp,

Connect the rear rca cables to the front RCA's on the head unit. If the whine is gone, then it is the head unit. Make sure the grounds on the head unit all ground at the one location and the contact is good.

Also try a set of rca cables where the shielding is disconnected at one end.

FIX THE PROBLEM. Turned out to be that gain on the amp was too high. It was at 50% now it's 15-25%. I guess the amp is very picky but the whine is very quiet.
